Yeah, she was really cool. I hope she looks back on us and remembers the good times. Something about she was screwed over by someone, don't remember who, and lost all rights to her name and work and stuff. Good times man, good times.
I've heard a couple things now. Hopefully she is in better place in life.

I think a big part of what happened here, as well as on every other forum that I've been on for a long time, is that Fakebook really took off about the time that we saw a major drop in active members. Hey, I'm not saying that it's Markie Mark Suckerborg's fault... I said I was blaming him!
Agreed. The board sucks now. I hardly even post in the politics section anymore. It's just the same five people discussing the same shit over and over. It jus gets exhausting over time. I'm over it. The board has lost so many interesting characters over the years. Plasma, Stan Scratch, Andronicus, Xfire, Mayhem, Vodkazvictim, Lurkingdirk. Hell, even Sam Fisher. At least he made the board more interesting for a while. The good ol' days huh

I know why they did it, and it might even have been understandable even if I didn't agree with it at the time, but moving all the political stuff into a separate section of the board was one of the worst decisions this place ever did. It quickly killed any kind intelligent thought on those type of subjects. Well, that and the fact this place got filled up by so many complete and utter dumbasses, not to mention heartless jerks. At a point I just had to quit trying to reason with people that adamantly refuse to be reasoned with. I miss the days where even some of the people that disagreed with me could at least put up rational, logical, and empirically fact-based arguments, and if you did the same they would honestly consider your point. Those days are gone. I was always told, "you can't fix stupid". Maybe in the past I was naive enough on that to think I could if I just could reach out to them in the right way. Now I know better even if some of the blatant willful ignorance scares me.
It's not so much pathetic as an realistic assessment of how this place used to be. It really used to be better. People also leave for a lot of reasons. Most people I've known from online places I've been a part of for a real long time have left and often it didn't have as much to do with them disliking the place as much as most people just move on over time or lose interest, even from things they like.

I agree with you. They opened up that toxic free for all zone and that way people didn't have to worry as much about getting banned. I always figured they did it to negate the affects of one Mr. Sam Fisher. But, as you say, that meant that the required (more) civil discourse left the main Talk section. So yeah, I think they fragmented the board way too much. That, combined with Facebook and other social media, put a real damper on things here (and on other forums around the interwebz).
But it is what it is. When I got busy last year, I hardly came here at all. And I really didn't miss it - I came back recently and it was really just the same old same old. Now I have some free time while decide whether I want to retire or maybe work a little longer, so I'm playing on here more... cause I need something to do between trades. :dunno:
But it's good to run across some of the OG's from time to time, like yourself. :coolthumb:
There were five people on here I talked to on Yahoo. And they, except for one at that time, vanished out of the blue. Some was before disappearing on here and vice versa.

Unfortunately the days of very strong disagreements in the political section happened after 2008. People were lambasted with the mainstream medias praising and covering Obama. It rejoiced some members and infuriated others members. Politics were and are never a clean thing. In politics there is no in bteween, you are either from the right or either from the left. For some people, it is complicated to accept it but not for me. Also some maturity is to be had when people talk about some serious subjects and not being dreamers or childish. Some people will try to have a debate with you in a constructive way whereas others will always reject the fault on the opposite party. Talking politics is never easy but always complicated, always.
Everyone has a personal life and is not always 24h/24h on forums. I also miss some old timers but that is life. I can't agree with everyone on every thing but there are many members that I appreciate despite our opposed views and beliefs.
People grew up. Got tired. Got married. Got disenfranchised. Got jaded. On that same line of cause/effect... not all of us really 'left'. Some died. Some got locked up. Some are hooked on somethin'.
Ya know what really sucks? Losing a few years in a government institution and having to start over ... not just from zero, but minus tier progress.
Like, even on some of those 'alternate' boards I've been to, over the years... almost everywhere is turning into the same thing. 4 chan, 8 chan, straight dope, useless junk, stileproject, some are gone or 'zombie-ing'.
