So I Got Drunk For the First Time and I'm Kind of Worried

Ethanol, the alcohol in your alcoholic drinks, is a diuretic. This means that it increases your urine output, thus causing dehydration. This dehydration can cause dry mouth, headaches, lethargy, and also causes the brain to slightly shrink, which can cause difficulty in motor skills and concentration. Also, as the body metabolizes the ethanol, excess NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) can buildup slowing gluconeogeneis and cuase hypoglycemia, which can cause some of said hangover symptoms, as well as mood swings and fatigue.
As the body metabolizes the ethanol, it is broken down through several stages, eventually into acetaldehyde dyhydrogenase which is a minor toxin.
The best advice that can be given is to drink a shitload of water while you are drinking, and a shitload when you wake up to replenish your body and flush out the toxins. Don't be afraid to go ahead and shit either, it just helps get rid of the acetaldehyde, but make sure to drink even more water when you're done.
Also, you have to take it easy when you are a new drinker. Over time, the body becomes used to the alcohol and can take greater amounts with less effects, but when you're a noobie, the body has no idea how to handle it. I would give it a few more days before going to see a doctor.
Just to give you an idea about how drinking water helps:
My first time drinking I was out with a bunch of seniors and i got absolutely smashed. But before I went to bed I drank a full liter of water. When I woke up, the only symptom I had was a bit of sensitivity to the light. Try it next time you drink.

It could simply be a case of dehydration.

Yup-yup. The alcohol replaces the water in your body. I've never gotten drunk, and never will...because I can't. (Once I drank 9 beers in 30 minutes, and then took 21 shots of Bacardi 151, yes 151--nothing.) I also have never had a hangover because I drink a lot of water before I go to bed. The only down-side is I have to piss like F'in-crazy in the morning!

Wow, thanks for that great info. Believe me, I'm holding off geting drunk for a LONG time! What kind of bothers me is the fact that I don't feel myself. I feel like my concetration is down and I'm very tired. On Friday I had 12 beers and on Sat I had 13 beers. I know to most that's nothing, but since my system is new to it, could I have shocked it? Another thing I have noticed is my senses are weakend a tlittle.

You can get used to it, but it's better to simply not drink so much. Once you get past a certain point, alcohol will no longer make you feel better (and make you feel worse), and this point is far before you start having memory lapses.

What you can do to help is that you don't drink on an empty stomach. If your body has other stuff to metabolize than the alcohol, the effect will be spread out a bit thinner. Likewise, try to eat something before you go to bed after you've been drinking, for the same reason. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids before you go to bed to prevent the dehydration and replace water-soluble vitamins that went out with the water (B and C vitamins, bananas, milk and some sort of citrus fruit are fairly good sources of these). Coffee is a common "cure", but can actually make things worse. Obviously, don't take any drugs that can interact poorly with the alcohol, and don't go driving or something like that, even if you feel fine.

I drank a whole bottle of Orloff vodka with a buddy of mine for his birthday. we started at 10 in the morning. by 1am the next day, I was still feeling it. Then again, I hadn't drank for almost two months at that point

Longest and by far the worst hangover I ever had! Fuckin jose kicked my ass up one side and down the other! I learned a valuable lesson that night. I need to stop, when I know I've had enough!

I have only ever been drunk once in my entire life. I was so fucking drunk that I do not remember the entire night or next day. All I remember is waking up on a couch with a pail full of puke and news papers on the floor.

Apparently I was the life of the party, going around and introducing myself as Luke Skywalker and pretending I was fighting with a Star Wars light sword. It was also the first place I got to see and touch boobies. Fuck, man what a way to have that kind of experience happen. I will never remember it.

At least I know I can remember all my boobies experiences since then:1orglaugh

So, I have never been drunk, but I have been stoned out of my mind on many occasions, but this thread is not titled "So I Got Stoned For the First Time and I'm Kind of Worried" So, I guess whoever actually reads my post will have to wait for that thread
