SLAYER on tour!!!

I've never been much of fan of Dave Vincent, although i enjoy Domination and Covenant. I dont see why so many people see him to be the missing part of the puzzle.

I think it's because Steve Tucker hasn't really had the chance to prove himself yet. 'Formulas...' was written without him and sounded directionless, IMO. It's probably the worst of the Morbid Angel albums to be honest. 'Gateways...' whilst being damn good, lost a bit of the old Morbid Angel bluster by slowing things down slightly and becoming groovier while David Vincent covered all bases with his time in Morbid Angel. You have to realise as well, MA's first few albums were some of the first proper death metal records to emerge, so naturally Altars and Blessed are heralded as classics it's just that there are a lot of bands out today peddling the same wares.

Personally, I like it when MA experiment such as the aforementioned groove on Gateways and the different vocal stylings on Domination and Heretic. 'Caesars Palace' from Domination...now THERE was a song...

Yeah, i was too young to even care about music when A and B were released so when i listen to them now they sound redundant. But to older fans they still think they're superior to the rest of the discography, but thats mainly due to nostalgia.

Well I only got into Morbid Angel in 2000 but still think that Alatars, and particularly Blessed are fantastic additions to their cannon. Mind you, to me Domination is surely their finest hour. I feel like doing a ranking...

1.Domination
2.Blessed Are The Sick
3.Covenant
4.Heretic
5.Altars of Madness (it's the vocals that impair this release. Too dry and cookie-monsterish)
6.Gateways to Annihilation
7.Entagled In Chaos
8.Formulas Fatal To The Flesh
9.Abominations of Desolation

Arch Enemy is on this tour also.

I wonder how long it will take before Kerry King starts talking more shit about them.

Pure nostalgia for me Rev!!!!

I already knew Morbid Angel before their Altars of Madness came out, I was quite busy in death/black metal underground those days. Like me many underground troopers were longing for this masterpeace to come out for months!! Like Death, Entombed etc they were the first to produce this kind of music and that's why they deserve our utter respect!!!

Grindcore is metal, isn't it?????? Last time I checked Napalm was pretty fuckin' heavy, Icould be wrong though.

Grindcore is an evolution of punk.

Punk > Hardcore Punk > Grindcore

you want wild and bloody music, listen to mayhem, burzum, gorgoroth, cradle of filth, dissection, manowar and type o negative. That is what i call very brute and bloody music.

I like the old albums of slayer, they are very good. I also listened to motorhead and korn.

Sorry man, grindcore is not metal!!!!

Different style of playing the guitar, different riffs...

I'm a guitarist in a metal band, and Napalms riffs are very metal. As far as grind core being more punk, Punk is the grand daddy of all good metal (NOT LED ZEPPLIN). Look at the Misfits??? They alone influenced so many metal bands. Look at TSOL? Or christ, Iggy Pop. Slayer even put out a punk cover album (Undisputed Attitude). I still don't see the difference from grindcore to metal... I think it's all the same. If Napalm Death, Obituary (REUNITE, PLEASE!!) and Cradle Of Filth came on the same bill, that would be sick, would it not??:flame:

I was talking aboout REAL Grindcore, only few bands play it these days anymore. During the years there's come a lot of crossover and mixture of styles...

Check out old ENT, THAT is real grindcore and has got nothing to do with metal.

The OLD stuff of NAPALM DEATH was also like that, I'm talking about their eighties stuff now

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I see. Yeah, you are right. Their older stuff like Fuck off Nazi punks is pretty punk. I've been listening to thier later stuff lately. It seems that after the album Utopia Banished (which is a great album), they kinda changed. But it was a good change (unlike some bands we know that start with the letter M)... Dude, check out Words From the Exit Wound from Napalm. Awesome album, a must have.

you shoulda stopped after Gorgoroth, although Dissection are quality.

Modern grindcore yeah has got a metal feel to it.

REAL oldschool grindcore like Extreme Noise Terror, Agathocles have got nothing to do with metal whatsoever...

See, I'm not too keen on Burzum, but then again I think Varg's lost it and is frankly a bit of a twat...To be fair I've only heard 'Burzum' and 'Aske' though...

Cradle have lost my interest and Manowar are fun, but seem to be far, far too jokey for me.

Nuff said!!

Varg lost it completely!!

Lost interest in the man and his music since the shame of 10/8/93
