Even though, of course, many of them will have had no idea of his (still alleged) offences.

I dont mean to sound cynical or bitter, but who even cares anymore?

The man is dead and the fact that his "victims" plan to sue for compensation just shows the truly pathetic means people will go to in the pursuit of money. How many of these so called victims were really abused? How can we prove who he did or did not touch?

If a man rapes a woman but the rapist dies, you do not sue the mans family for money. There are slightly more demanding matters of time and money that we should be pursuing or worrying about.

Why do we have to hear day in day about the disputable claims of people who were afraid to come forward because they were afraid of the man? I mean really, they were all to scared to come forward? Fuck off. He was a DJ, not a mafia boss.

If you want justice go after the people who knew about it and let it continue to happen because of their own selfish investments in the man.

"I was touched as a child, give me money!!!" How about no?

There's a lot of truth in that.

The impression I get is that it's . . . . well, just a cracking story.

JS managed to con, to cheat, literally millions of people about the kind of man ("a professional nice-guy") he was, and he did so for 50+ years. When, finally, the "truth" (or, as you rightly point out, something like it) emerged, he was dead and gone and beyond the reaches of the law. The BBC (Jim "fixed-it"), the Vatican (Papal knighthood, I think), the Establishment ("Sir Jim") - he conned them all, the British public too (national treasure, etc).

The "avoiding justice" angle is powerful here: it's rather like the cases of those sad teen nutters who shoot a load of school students and then turn the gun on themselves;" or, even worse, Hitler & Co. wreaking havoc for years and then comitting suicide, and thereby avoiding trial, execution, etc. Except that, in Savile's case, everybody loved the geezer. Amazing.

As I said, a cracking story.

Yes, it's so incongruous: the voice-over of the reports are telling a sordid tale of abuse an exploitation, accompanied by pictures of the man himself smiling, waving, jangling the bling, etc. There probably is no footage of Savile NOT acting-up for the cameras.

All very embarrassing.
