Family Guy has really grown on me, but it's still The Simpsons if I had to choose. I grew up liking the Simpsons, and probably will forever have some sort of affinity for them. Plus I enjoyed the movie. So yeah ... Simpsons.
The family guy is one of the funniest cartoons I have ever saw, but the Simpson Episodes are unbeatable. This shouldn't even be a question. Unless you have not saw either of them.
The Simpsons offers up a greater number of funny characters. Family Guy is edgier, but the jokes get repetitious. Family Guy has two or three characters that are consistently funny. Edge to Simpsons. :hatsoff:
As in, "about the last decade's worth, or so." At least in my opinion. Frankly, I'm surprised the plug hasn't been pulled on that series, yet. I read recently that "King of the Hill" - another series that I thought was okay in the beginning but that I QUICKLY grew tired of - is going to cease production in a couple of years. I wish somebody had made that decision about "The Simpsons", already. As in several years ago. Letting it go on does nothing more than tarnish its once-bright reputation, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a Simpsons guy. Family Guy sucks. I watch South Park and King of the Hill more then the Simpsons, but there is just something about that show that can't be duplicated.
Definately The Simpsons. Family Guy is also very good though, and I also very much enjoy American Dad. They are all quite funny.
But The Simpsons is just something special. Nothing beats it.
