Just a side note:

The US womens team played a high school boys hockey team from my state and lost. This was not an all star, granted, it's one of the more storied HS hockey teams in the state, but It is kind of funny to say the least. These "young ladies" losing to a bunch of masturbating young high school pervs...:)

In short, I could easily make that women's team if they needed another defenseman (maybe I should get a sex change). :1orglaugh
You wouldn't need the sex change. . .

Yes , why not?

The spirit of the Olympics is anyone can compete , plus its up to the shit teams to take some responsibility for there own improvement , so they have to play the best if they want to learn and improve.....

But its womens hockey , so who really cares?

Its Men's Hockey that I think is an unfair Olympic sport.

Women's hockey doesn't have the funding or the publicity that men's does...and most men's hockey players come into the Olympics as already established and successful professional players...while other athletes fights scrimp, beg and borrow for funding to train...hell to even get their family's to the games to watch them.

I find Men's Hockey takes away from the spirit of the games...

...and this from a dude who watches hockey.
I agree. I am a big hockey fan, but I think it should go back to being amatuers. As for women's hockey, heck yeah, I like watching the women play.

Hockey is a real sport. Of course Women should participate. We need to remove all the bullshit XGames events. Those are soiling the rep of the Olympics.

Hockey will follow the same trajectory as soccer. Women's soccer was basically not interesting until 1999. Now, it is highly competitive and the quality of soccer on the global level is outstanding.
Rep for this post.

Yes. How else is Canada going to win a medal in hockey?

rofl. Love it.

But yeah, of course womens hockey should be a sport. Its clear that we can play the game...well...us north american ladies. Maybe the other teams who completely suck it should have to meet certain requirements prior to being qualified to compete at the Olympics or something. But you shouldn't take womens hockey out completely simply because no one is as great as our Canadian team :D ps. you americans are going to eat ice today

I don't think they should eliminate it from the Olympics just because the scores are one-sided. It's a bullshit reasoning for doing away with a sport. They're already doing this to softball and baseball in the 2012 Summer Olympics for the same exact reason and nobody is happy about it. Just because there are certain countries that "control" or dominate a sport doesn't mean that it should be eliminated from the Olympics altogether. The US Dream Team fucking MURDERED teams when they played - they were literally beating teams by 80 points - but they didn't drop basketball. So, why drop women's hockey? :dunno: Plus, it's a relatively new event; it needs time to develop worldwide, allowing multiple countries to become genuinely competitive.

It should be "team Scandinavia," and "team Asia," etc. That's how they break them down in my state at high school level so entire cities, instead of power house high schools, actually can field a team that can compete. So instead of one POS high school fielding a team, 3 or 4 in the region field a team, thus making them competative. But that will never happen in olympics, I know.

Hey, we can't help it if everyone but Canada and the US sucks. No reason to take the puck and go home, though. Not very Olympic like.

Sure why not, a majority of the female hockey players on team USA are cute. Plus I think each one of them has scored a goal including the goaltender this Olympics.

When hockey was originally made an olympic sport, Canada was winning by monster scores. It takes time for a new sport to develop. With proper funding and time, womens hockey will be more competitive worldwide. You don't think the Russian are itching for a chance to get us in four years.

Britain won hockey gold in 1936 with a team of Canadians with British ancestors. Maybe Slovakia can repatriate some hockey playing Misses Novak and Pospisil from Edmonton or Calgary...?

The one and only.
If we aren't going to win gold, then I say get rid of it. The Olympics should consist of events that only America excels at.

Most, if not all, descendents of Canadian hockey are European in descent. Same applies to Americans. Imagine if all the French Canadians played for France...that would be f-in cool.
