I'm kinda partial to the Washington Savages. They wouldn't even have to change the logo.

The St. John's Redmen basketball team caved in and became the Red Storm in 1994. They have seen post season action 8 times since then. Before the name change they were in 29 conceseutive post season tournements. Their old mascot was a Native American dressed in traditional atire. Today it is this fucking thing named Johnny Thunderbird.
I hope everyone feels better now.

No, it shouldn't. Like people say around here...you need to get thicker skin. It's not being used in a way that mocks the heritage of, or is disrespectful of, the Native American. I have a friend that's at least half Cherokee, and in the summer, when he gets a lot of sun, his skin takes on a dark reddish hue. It's just a fact, Native Americans have that tone to their skin.
If that's not good enough, make the team give a vig, of half a point to a Native American charity....money seems to get them over it...just check out any one of their casinos.

I'm also amused by the fact that this issue never seems to come up when the Redskins are doing really well. If they were undefeated so far this season, almost no one would be talking about this.

If the Native Americans are not offended by the Redskins,then it should stay the way it is,and how it has been for the last 81 years.I'd rather have the tradition than some new brand bullshit thank you very much 
I always find it amusing how a bunch of white men in the media tell us what is offensive. Even funnier is that the Kansas City Star newspaper made it a big point that they don't call the Redskins, the Redskins. Yet they have no problem calling their beloved Kansas City Chiefs the Kansas City Chiefs. A franchise which has an arrowhead as their logo and play in a stadium called Arrowhead Stadium and use to have a blonde woman wearing Indian garb ride a horse during pre game festivities. Regarding this issue, a black man stated, “In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness". If we are to dump the name Redskins, then every team nickname regarding human heritage should also be removed. So long Blackhawks, Celtics, Raggin' Cajuns, Seminoles and all the others. Perhaps we should just have congress and the President make laws forbidding this type of team nicknames. Because if you demand a change, then it should be brought to the highest levels of our government.

I think the team would be more ashamed to be associated with Washington. Redskin is a term coined by injuns themselves and the majority of those I know aren't offended by the appellation. The limp-wristed wine sipping cock chugging bisexual tree huggers are the only ones who seem to want to tell everyone else what to be offended by this.
