As it has been said throughout the thread: America tries to police the areas of the world where it has an interest in, based on economic reasons.
That is ok. Every bigger country is doing that: look at China, Russia or also to a lesser extent the EU.
But compared to China for example the US has reached its limits. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and their effects reduce enormously the economic, financial and military power of the US. In the moment the US could not respond to a new military threat without having severe problems.

The Space Program is a waste of money, It costs Billions and there's nothing out there!

Yeah! Cause you know we'll never run out of room or resources on earth, right? Population will keep growing and growing and then just stop once there's no more room. And we'll never ever run out of materials we need, either. They're all in infinite abundance.

Lets face it America is trying to help, it's just the whole world needs to be responsible and take care of themselves as well, most third world countries are in poverty and can't even grow their own crops,
In most cases, I believe that third world nation people could grow their own crops, it's just that the dictatorial regimes who govern such countries simply won't allow their people to cultivate their own food sources.

Thoughts? We are in debt something like 14 trillion and I'm wondering, how can this continue. The world is burning alive right now - it seems like there is a tragedy every week.

And sorry if this thread (or a similar one) has/had already been started.

:hatsoff:

The US is in debt HOW MUCH ? 14 Trillions ....??? This is the OFFICIAL number ...:angels::D:D

Yeah pretty sure it's 14 trillion. My state is something like 6 billion or something so I don't know what the rest of the country has been doing. Of course my state is tiny compared to places like California, but stilll.

Yeah we're so go at it. Let's get the hell out of all these places and let economics, trade and developing markets serve our diplomacy in these next decade. Happy St Patrick's Day from Adult Movies

You're a bit off - the national deficit is $1.4 trillion - quite a difference but still a big number.

I don't know but I was watching the Factor the other day and I could've sworn he said 14 trillion. Suppose he could've mispoke but I will take your word for it. That figure makes a bit more sense.

Gee, Bloody. Maybe you should go out and find the actual number if you first said you heard it on The Factor but someone here posts a different, lower number and now you're ready to leap off of The Factor's bandwagon?

Just remember, the BIGGER NUMBER (that one that you quoted $10trillion+) goes back to WWII and is a total accumulation of our country's debt. The smaller number may be the operating debt of the nation. That smaller number can go up or down depending on a lot of things. It has gone up since W took office and has continued on it's upward trend through Obama's years.

But, Obama's 2 years have thus far had been under economic collapse whereas W experienced an economic boom post-Clinton and for the first 7 years he was in office. The reasons behind that boom well led us to the economic collapse we've been living under. :dunno: That's pretty much what the sitch is.

To Answer the question directly: America SHOULD NOT police the World anymore. We can not afford it, and the world doesn't want us to anyways. It just leads to headaches and misery for us and the nations we're supposed to be helping.

A much better and fairer solution is for the UN to be the World's Police Force, for the U.S. and other wealthy nations to send equal numbers of troops to act as "GLOBAL POLICE FORCE" under the authority of the UN.

That way America can become less Super power (too expensive to be) and more Cooperative Power (share the burden)...

Is somewhere outhere.
Why not?? I mean why deny them the priviledge of something they
love to do :dunno:

I think they should go in and take out the Mad Dog for being a naughty

I'm not "jumping off" The Factor bandwagon (I'm not on a bandwagon) and I don't go out of my way to put O'Reilly stuff on the board. Pretty well certain he said we should possibly not send financial aid to Japan right now because we are 14 tril' in debt. If I misheard or he mispoke, so phuckin' what... ;)

Why save the world, when you can rule it?

Even if america had no prior commitments, she faces severe problems deploying ground forces anywhere fast.

If only. But people don't work like that.
Put up a big fucking fence. :2 cents:

14 trillion is the figure I've heard. :dunno:

America only looks out for its own interests. Nothing more, nothing less. But soon you guys will not be able to afford to do that. :2 cents:
