To keep the yanks in.

why bother? just keep giving them shit food, cheap shiny gadgets and credit cards and the ones you're worried about leaving never will...the ones who would actually consider leaving at that point would be, in general, decent folks who are actually willing to put forth an effort to get through life and therefore wouldn't be a burden on other countries...:2 cents:

America started "policing" the world after WWII, when practically every other country's economy was in a shambles. With the Cold War, America stepped up its "policing" in such places as Africa, South America and southeast Asia. Ten aircraft carriers active and another two in production gives the States a "policing" edge. Add to that a fleet of submarines totaling an astounding 71 in four classes. While not the largest standing army in the world, the United States is able to deploy very quickly. That is/was its edge. But other counties--notably France, China and even Brazil continue to emerge militarily. With America's spiraling deficit it would be easy to see how other countries will become more involved globally. Also, let's face it...it's not just America that flexes its muscle for its own gain.

Oh yea your policing the world....Good old uncle Aegis....It's not like your vast customer base...... All that shit that's gotta be exported....need to be stable in order to buy shit....It's not like resources exist outside the world like oil....Control of such is nice.....But no these are all imaginary concepts

It's really about apple pie and liberty.....Did I say liberty? Well it's worth mentioning again.

Hell no! America should go back to being a neutral country like we were before World War 2. America should NOT get involved in other countries affairs. We have a very bad habit of doing that, and the only thing that's come out of it has been thousands of dead Americans. And for what? Oil? Money? If that's the case, show me where the oil and money are. You really don't see either of them anywhere in America do you? Just look at the gas prices and the cost of groceries these days. Personally, I don't care one iota about Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other country. I honestly and truly don't. I don't give a shit if some other country doesn't like me for being an American. I have not, nor will not lose any sleep over that matter.

Now some people may say I'm not a loyal American. I don't really care what other people say. This is just my opinion:

America is a has-been country. We had it all at one point. We had a booming economy, a steel industry that built basically every city in the country and also in other countries as well. We had an automobile industry that went from making muscle cars that still run like new, to making so-called cars that break down every time you turn the key. But what happened to us? Getting involved in foreign affairs, giving other countries our money, our resources, and our industries ruined this country. Not to mention the fact that we also gave them the lives of our soldiers. We have our own problems here in America, such as homelessness, poverty, crime, disease, and a government out of control, just to name a few.

I have no problem with America helping other people, but when that takes priority over helping our own people first, then that's our mistake. I don't blame the other countries, I blame this one alone. America should learn how to say "NO" to some country. America does know how to say "NO" to it's own people though, right? Americans want more and better jobs, better health care, but the American "government" says "NO you can't have it."

America can not continue to police the world anymore, but I know that's not going to change any time soon. This was a great country at one point. Now all we have is politicians taking away our rights and freedoms and giving them to other people. George Carlin said it best about America:

"They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Sadly man its cause your too far down the road....I agree you need to address your issues but isolation won't work....And that's not "oh help us America" that's just concrete fact based on the grim realities of today.

Your country has had a symbiotic relationship with Europe since world war 2...It's the misappropriation of fat cats that has half the world in the shit can....That is the American dream, the pinnacle of capitalism where you either make it or don't and everyone else can fuck off.

Isolation would only weaken you further.

OK, tell me, whose interests is America supposed to look out for? That is such a bullshit line and I really get tired of hearing/seeing it.

:dito: It seems that the usa gets singled out for doing exactly what every other country in it's position would do. I've had the debate with guys I work with in aregentina, brazil and venezuela.
