Possible Syrian born and trained and actually worked at Walter Reed Army Hospital as a psychiatrist and actively licensed in Virginia and Maryland, the shooter was just promoted from Captain to Major in march, 2009. As a former US Army senior officer, I was surprised he was not promoted to Major earlier. If the shooter "is" a board-certified psychiatrist, the US Army will automatically give the rank of Major to any doctor and within 7-10 years, those who stay will become Colonel !
There is more to the story but the US Army must screen all Muslims and root them out.
I am not a racist but Muslims are dangerous if they are allowed to have guns and work within the system in the US Army health care system !

Actually, before Virgina Tech, the largest shooting also occurred at Fort Hood !!
Fort Hood is the world largest military base (except there is something I do not know about the Chinese military operations !)

i'm native to Canada, residing in the US.
The whole thing I blame is the US Army. Us Army can not retain American born doctors. They trained them, gave them four years scholarships to go to medical schools.
99 percent American doctors left US Army after 4-6 years. The retention rate is horrible.
So US Army comes up with citizenship in exchange for foreign doctors to serve in the Army.
Well they should change the rules and not allow this foreign born Muslim to serve in the US Army. How can you send a Muslim doctor to fight against Muslims !

That's like asking how Americans could fight Americans in the Civil War.
Just because they share the fact they are Muslim does not mean a thing. They believe different things and to think that they will work with each other or not kill eachother cause of their race/skin/belief/whatever is absurd.

Last time I checked Doctors in the Army are not involved in combat, but what do I know about the Army.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military’s Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.
He served in the ROTC, went to Army medical school in Bethesda, did internship, residency and everything at Walter Reed but received poor evaluation at Walter Reed (That's why he would have been a Colonel by now, but he just got promoted in May, 2009)
Clearly, the shooter has a lot of problems, issues in the Army not related to Muslims.
If anyone went to ROTC, went to Virginia Tech and then Army medical school and trained at Army hospital Walter Reed and spent 7 years in training there and just got promoted at 39. He has poor grades in the US Army !

Yes Fort Hood is 18 miles from my home here in Central Texas, I am retired military and use the facilties out there all the time. The Commisary, MWR, AAFES, And the Carl Army Darnel medical Center there. I have a scheduled medical appointment there tommarow and am trying to call Fort Hood to see If I should rescheule my medical appointment.
The VA does the same thing.
