SERIOUS Question...

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Ok, so I have a bit of a problem...I think...I don't know. Anyway, one of my co-workers came over to my apartment the other day because he needed to use my computer. He doesn't have one of his own and he doesn't live near a library. He said that he needed to send some e-mails, update his resume, blah blah blah. So, I told him that he could use my computer if he wanted to.

Fast forward to about 15-20 minutes ago...

I was in the mood for a quick stroke before I headed off to bed, so I opened up my Windows Media Player, did a quick file search to load all of my movies onto my playlist and then BAM...

I see a good 12-13 movies that I didn't remember having. So, obviously, out of pure confusion and general curiosity, I opened the movie files and then my heart began to race. I'm not kidding when I say this, but I have, let's just say, "highly offensive and illegal material" on my computer at the moment. I don't want to get banned or get this thread deleted by mentioning exactly what it is, but I think you can figure it out. Let's just say that I'm not KIDDING and I hope I don't buy the FARM for this (whatever that means, I'm not even sure :dunno:).

I don't know if I'm just freaking out for no reason at all or if I should genuinely be worried, but...what do I do? If I just delete them and then empty my Recycle Bin, will that get rid of them permanently? Do I have to format my hard drive? Or, am I fucked? Seriously, I'm worried. :helpme:

I hate to over-react, but I don't feel like getting in trouble and/or going to jail because of some bullshit like this.

PS - I called the asshole that used my computer and I got his voicemail. So, I'll deal with him later.

(I don't care if you don't believe this story and think that I personally downloaded this junk to my computer and just made up some "guy from work" mumbo jumbo just so I didn't embarass myself. Think what you may about me, but I don't smear lotion on my junk while I look at, what appears to be, Michael Jackson's sexual fantasy.)

Dude that shit stays in your embedded files even if you delete them! I don't know what too suggest exactly. if the cops check your computer then your in deep shit.

I would call the police from a public payphone and ask what too do? I am not even sure you should do that, but you most definitely don't want the FBI / police confiscating your PC!! call a lawyer or something?? goodluck!! :hatsoff:

p.s. I would put a serious beat down on that asshole!!! if you end up calling the police tell them it was him!

Well first, call the cops on him and get him sent away where he can be Big Daddy's little boy-toy. I think that is the biggest priority right now.

Second, I think there is a Norton Utilities program (Is it Utilities) that can delete them permanently.

damn, that is a good question. I'd say that you have very little legal recourse in proving that it was him that did it and not you. Obviously this is a very disturbed individual and you should do something about it, but I'm just not sure that being in possesion yourself of the material is going to help in that.

The paranoid in me says that if someone is putting shit like that on your computer, then they are trying to set you up. I'm told that just deleting all your cookies and files doesn't permanently get rid of information. I have no idea how that works, I'm not really very technical. What you should do is reboot your system and reinstall all your files, wipe the whole harddrive just to be sure. I'm sure that some members can give better advice about that specific thing. that seems like the best and surest way to go to me.

Don´t delete anything, call the police and tell them exactly what happened. This shithead needs to be in jail.

I have no idea what to advise in this situation. My thinking says to just call the police, explain what you found and have them look into it. Obviously someone who harbors that kind of material isn't gonna out themselves and would have a bazillion other "risque" files on their hardrive...so if they do a scan of your PC all they would find is one. Its a tough call man...

New harddrive. Make him buy you a new one.

Take a hammer to the old harddrive and burn it. :crash:

Well, I am getting a new laptop for Christmas, but I was planning on keeping this computer so I could use it for junk files (music and videos). But, apparently I'll be destroying it.

Just change the harddrive. There's no need to destroy the computer.

I like Will E's idea. Make this idiot buy you a new hard drive.

Sorry that your wanking session got ruined by this whole thing...

DO NOT DESTROY THE HDD.

If this person has downloaded any illegal porn onto you HDD, there is a chance that the content is tracked, and now logged to you IP address. If the police are tracking the download locations from the files, they will know already, so do not destroy the HDD, it only incriminates yourself. Your IP history is more of a threat than the HDD content.

Log EVERYTHING. Seriously, keep all cookies, do not wipe you history files, nothing. The exact time and locations of the downloads will be saved. IF this person has used a password or creditcard detail to gain access, then it'll have a trace.

1) Contact the police, anon initialy to find out what you can first.

2) Account for where you were at the time of the download, and where the person who downloaded it was. Phone records, anything.

3) Use this thread as a character ref etc, or get a logging number from point 1 to show that you are a victim of this person rather then the downloader.

4) Keep all credit card/bank card statements. Prove that no transaction have ocured linking you to the download site.

5) Contact the police. Hand them the computer, your records, details of the downloader and aid them as much as you can. If you have nothing to hide, and nothing that is illegal, than there will be no come back on you. If this person has done the same thing previously, then there will either be a trail or log-ins from different locations (which should exclude you from further investigations) or already a tracker applied to his creditcard/login ID.

6) Act fast. The longer anything illegal is left on the HDD, the more it'll look like personal use.

7) Good luck

Do the mods have any advice on this?

As people in the porn industry, does anyone from the higher reaches of Freeones with contacts with Police-Porn relationships know what the best course of action is or advice?

Don't share the info with anyone. Oops you already made that mistake. Just don't let anyone else around you know what happened. Besides, the Feds usually go after the big ones if you get my drift, and you don't seem like that type. I think you're just overreacting. Just play it cool and you'll be fine.

Oh if your HDD ever crashes, smash it into little pieces.

That's horrible! Call the police and go hay-wire on his ass!

After you clear your pc, I suggest pouring a tall glass of pain for this co-worker of yours.

Throw the computer away, beat up the guy, move house move country infact, change your name, do a reverse Micheal Jackson and darken your skin, and when you finally settle in Marrakesh under the name Abdul Al Zakowi, re-join freeones and no one will ever know ;)
