Scotch. I love it.

WTF? Am I reading this correct? Some folk are actually saying "I don't like Scotch I prefer whisky/whiskey"? Exactly what do you think 'Scotch' is if it's not whisky?

Ok, well, I didn't pick up a bottle of Dewars, instead, I got Macallan 12.

It's.......interesting. I can see it being enjoyable to some people. It has a lot of taste to it. I think it was a good "first time" Scotch experience. I don't hate it, I don't love it. I think I'm still and Irish whiskey man though.

Thanks for the topic though, and the suggestion.

I always get cautious when women call their lap dogs Whiskey. (Brush up your Schnitzler: Punzenlecker - fanny lickers)

"That's my little Whiskey. His actual name is Scotch, but I call him Whiskey. Every time I come home, he notices the key turning in the lock and then he hides behind the sofa. And then I come in. And I look. And I shout: WHISKEEEEEY! And then you can see his right ear... and he's gone. And then I can see his left hear.... and he's gone. And then he looks. And then he watches. And then he looks again.... And I watch. And Whiskey watches. And I say: "WHISKEEEEY!" And then he comes. And he looks. And he watches. And he bends his head.

That's soooooooo cute - kinda"

No more Scotch for me, please!

I'm a big vodka man myself:

Pearl, Skyy, Absolut, Grey Goose. I have empty bottles of numerous other premium vokas at my folks. I think it's the Scandinavian in me that goes the vodka route, although I do enjoy a bottle of Jim Beam or JD every now and again. Love gin. Seagrams (for the price) you can't go wrong with. In fact, it might be my favorite spirit for the price. Whiskey and scotch are a different kind of drunk, however. I found myself, at times, a bit more chippy when drinking the brown water. If there was anything that could ever turn me violent, it was those. Of course, any spirits indulged in without proper awareness can lead to such states.

^^ Yeah I really like the Polish Vodkas, like Belvedere and Chopin. But my number one spirit love is tequila.

Hmm, tequilla. I've had it here and there. That is definitely something you drink when you wanna drink. :)

Not too much firewater scares me, but if there are any, it's probably tequilla. I can even muster pure 151 to the amazement of those that witness me, but tequilla...well, it's tequilla. Sammy Hagar makes a decent bottle ,though. Tried it years ago. The key, again, is moderation. That's an idea that I have slowly come to know and understand. :o

Ahhhh my friend, I tip my glass back for you right now!! Cheers, and good health to you and those in your circle!! I'm happy to hear you like it, and actually, your description is EXACTLY how I felt with my first sip of the Brown Nectar......interesting, I don't hate it, wait for it.....huh! I think I like it! The next day, I kept thinking about what a pleasant experience it was, and I have been a scotch man ever since. Nothing else really seems to have the complexities, the hidden flavors that explode later in the drink, the smokiness, the EXPERIENCE!!

I like Scotch it's smooth.

I like all kinds drinks too, depending on what I'm in the mood for!!!!

I agree with you about moderation. However, that being said, as an aspiring writer, I have to admit to you all that there have been, still are, and will be times that overindulging has set off a firestorm of thoughts and inspiration in my head. I don't understand it; I just know that when that particular urge suddenly shows up from the bowels of my mind, holding a bottle, it's really in my best interest to go ahead and open the door, so to speak!

If spelt "whisky" it comes from Scotland, if "whiskey" it's from Ireland.

The problem comes with drinks like Bourbon which really shouldn't be called whisk(e)y at all but it's too late to change that. They are attempts to make a spirit from other grains , they make a good drink in their own right but can't compare with a malt whisky (you shouldn't really expect them to)
There are whiskies from Scotland and Ireland which are blends of non malt with malt;again pleasant enough but are recognised to be cheaper inferior versions.

Wasn't going to have another glass.....but after seeing the word whisky(how I prefer it to be spelled) and whiskey, well, sorry all, gonna have just ONE more. Right now. Can't say anything about 30 minutes from now......:)

Thanks again for the recommendation. I really did enjoy it. It was weird at first, with all those flavors. It was really a different experience for me. And here I am, the next day, thinking back about it.
That was a great recommendation!

I think it is very different though.

There is a difference, my friend.

Made different and tastes totally different than just 'whisky' / 'wiskey' in my opinion. :)

^^ Actually...the more I drink it....the more I like it! Isn't it funny how that works? This must be what it's like to be a girl!

Cute^^^^ Your so, so, so Ape like in your thinking. ;)

There's definitely times to indulge. The problem with me is the lines between those times and others is sometimes too thin. :o
