If the French hadn't invaded England and influenced the English language then English and Dutch would be mutually intelligable. I imagine the language you're learning has many similarities to English.
Brythonic is nothing like Dutch!

We were doing alright until the bloody Romans turned up :fight:

All I can think about Scandinavia is Ikea. We got a gift card and it took 5 trips in a year to spend $100. Other than the food and housewares stuff there is no reason to go in there. Who buys that ugly shit? Is that the standard home decorative in European households?

It is pretty similar.. it's also similar to German. As I so geniusly (??) put it to my roommate not too long ago - "Danish is just like English.. but with different words!" I'm not a linguist though.

Jeg kan ikke høre dig. Jeg har en banan i mit højre øre.

Er du sikker på det er en banan? (Are you sure it's a banana?)

I'm Finnish! and I kind of think we're the best. :)

Please post in english - this is the official board language. Ocassionally writing a word or phrase in your first language isn't going to get you banned, but carrying on a conversation that others can't read is just rude.
Don't use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS - this is considered "shouting" and it makes your post very hard to read. Others will ignore it and not reply to you or take you seriously.
Do your best to use correct grammar and punctuation (i.e. use paragraphs and avoid deliberately misspelling words or 133t speak/txt speak).

I must admit the Danes I know do seem to speak English better than we do.

Well it would be. English and German are very similar.
Remember that the English, Gauls and Teutons have been sharing violence and language for years and have the common forced heritage of the Roman Empire.

Wow there is actual moderating on the board, I was beginning to think all the mods were taking a life long break from moderating.
