This is precisely the reason why the electorate should not engage in the adoration of their elected officials ! DON'T DO IT ! The only way to look at a politician is down ! This isn't a game of futbol people, It's amongst some of the most official business in the land !!

Listen, they make very good money and they have all of the perks that you could imagine. Hold them to a higher standard ! We'd have better governance that way.

Edwards was thought to be the leading candidate for Atty General. Elizabeth Edwards was thought to be interested in spearheading a Univ Healthcare Crusade in 2009.

Team Donkey basically lost 2 quality public servants.

titsrock,

you are going WAAAAAAAAAAY over the top.

Just because John Edwards lied about an affair doesn't mean your life is over.

You're making a molehole into Mount Everest!

I still can't believe I misred the guy so badly. I've moved on to Team Obama, believe me. I never felt much "sympathy" for Hillary Clinton when the Lewinsky scandal broke...because she knew Bill was a skirt-chasing cad and she simply "looked the other way" for years. I really do feel bad for Elizabeth Edwards. She deserved to have a partner she could trust as she faces her cancer. Instead, she's got a douchebag in her corner....I bet she divorces Johnny in Summer of '09.

It sounded awfully callous, what JE said on Friday night (when nobody was watching ), there is a good deal of truth in what he said about becoming a narcissist in high office etc. etc. . . .and for that reason, it is incumbent upon the electorate to kick these ambitious attorneys in the ass where applicable. Never vote and forget. Vote and observe. ;)

Vote and observe and, for crying out loud, let's separate the personal from the job. Are we electing these people to do good public policy work or are we electing them to be saints? Elizabeth Edwards has every reason to have very negative feelings towards her husband. But this thing about the public acting like they have the same relationship to him is absurd, frankly. He was a fool to lie about it, especially after having watched what happened to Bill Clinton. He was a bigger fool to have been such a self-righteous asshole when Bill Clinton got caught and then to go the same route himself.

But the biggest fools of all are the people of this country if we don't grow up and let politicians have a private life and narrow our expectations to how they conduct their activities that really affect our lives, which is what we elect them for and pay them for, and start to hold them accountable for that.

Things are ass-backward in this country where much of the public cares more about whether politicians seem to love their wives and would be fun to go to a baseball game with than if they're plundering the treasury and giving as much of it as possible to their friends and their political contributors and screwing the hell out of the rest of us.

Nooooo he's not ! TR has acted accordingly toward a man that essentially lied about the contract that he breached, a marriage.

Don't enter into a contract that you cannot fulfill.

Decent people don't breach contracts.

JE has proven to (and has openly admitted) to having a poor credit rating
in the realm of character and trustworthiness. :2 cents:

Don't beat yourself up too much. This is what politicians do. Slight of hand, smoke and mirrors...

I think it best to expect them all to be slimy, that way I am never surprised.

Edwards thought that he was too good to be caught, that's kind of where I was coming from. The things that Edwards was saying (when he was elected as Senator) many we're led to believe that the guy was a wholly principled man of integrity. Point being, If Edwards had more or less kept his mouth shut and had been a humble less outspoken man, it really wouldn't matter much from a public relations standpoint, but coming from a guy who would often remind us the importance of integrity and all that "little small town boy" stuff, apparently even has the DNC pissed off at him !

For the record - I hold no loyalties to either pol. party. Imagine how much better our representation would be if everybody voted free of any specific loyalties. The politicians wouldn't exactly know where the electorate was or how many votes would be cast. etc. etc. Ha ha !!

I couldn't stomach starting a new thread about John Edwards--the greatest scoundrel in America. So, I just thought I'd resurrect my old thread about him.:o

There are interesting details in this article about how this clown financed his sex scandal coverup. He went into and conned "Old Money America" basically...

In a turn toward the positive...Elizabeth Edwards has finally separated from Scumbag Johnny. I guess in North Carolina--married persons must be separated for a year before divorce proceedings can begin:rolleyes: Huh? Do I understand that correctly? Hello Pioneer Days of 1830:tongue:

Watched a Doco on John and the Missus last night.... Was quite interesting! She definately wore the pants in that relationship.
