Rewrite the U.S. Constitution?

That's right! If you don't like it here you can go somewhere else, kill off all the native people, steal their land and call your new country the greatest on Earth. :dunno:

You surely mean smallpox, measles, and the whole kit and caboodle. The Spaniards did not "exterminate" the Aztecs, disease did that.In 1658, less than 50 years after Cortez conquered the Aztecs, the population of Mexico was 3 million, but nearly 50 years before it had been 30 million, so, did each of Cortez's 500 Spaniards kill 54,000 each?I don't think so.The Americas were like Hawaii to a certain extent, cut off from the rest of the world and from the disease trading that went on for a long time in the Old World.Europeans had acquired experience with their childhood diseases in the distant past, the Indians never had anything like that, Hell, Malaria hitched a ride from Africa aboard European ships.

She was talking about rewriting the whole thing, not adding an amendment.Kind of like throwing everything out and starting fresh.

The title of the thread says rewrite but if you actually read my original post I talked about updating it, adding amendments. Not rewriting it.

Nah. The Founding Fathers were actually learned and thoughtful (albeit flawed) men, who studied philosophy and the Latin classics. Would you trust the gaggle of idiots currently in American politics to even rewrite or amend the menu for Chuck E. Cheese Pizza? And if you left it up to "the people"... most Americans couldn't tell you who their U.S. Representative was if you held a gun to their heads. But ask them how many times Snooki fell down on Jersey Shore while she was drunk or who won Dancing with the Stars, and they could rattle that off in a New York second.

It's an interesting thought. But we're no longer qualified to mess with the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. We'd likely end up with a Julius Caesar in charge for life... and I don't mean our fine new member (with the coolest of names).

There wouldn't be much use in us rewriting ours when politicians here just ignore it half the time when it's convenient for them to do so.

Not only that, but can you imagine what we'd get if we let the current government rewrite our Constitution? I strongly believe what little freedoms the American people have left will be abolished.
