My favorite for sure is RE2 for playstation

the original, RE1. after that they should have improved some of the stuff that was wrong with RE1 (like the controls, annoying load times, etc), but they didn't; and since i no longer have a console i no longer play RE.
compared to stuff like system shock RE was never really scary though, though a bit gory.

4 was also good...but re2 is just a classic
I'd have to go with RE3 to begin with. it was fun, but it was too short. The best so far was probably the remake of 1

Yeah, although i didn't have the pleasure to play the remake but i know that the original was great.
Your poll seems to have missed one. Resident Evil: Outbreak with co-operative play. Actually, having pointed that out, there's probably one good reason why it's not on your list...it's crap. It's just too goddam difficult to keep everyone in the party alive - or even following your main character for that matter!
However, for me I enjoyed 1 (it was novel, exciting and had puzzles and guns), loved 2 (more guns, better puzzles), delighted in 3 (what with the Nemesis keep popping up for a rumble), Code Veronica X was much bigger than those that went before (but the puzzles weren't as challenging) and am still playing 4. But to be honest, my fav is 4 (although I'm still trying to kill the mutant-dude-thingy using the nitrogen tanks at present... bloddy hard - anyone got any tips?).

You could use the free rocket launcher on him, or buy another one. Run around for the 4 minutes and avoid him 'til the elavator appears. Or just shoot the shit out of him with everything you got.
4 minutes!?!?!?! Jeez. That's a long time in Resi-land - and what free rocket launcher? I tried the rocket launcher on him and then my most powerful weapon (the modified combat shotgun) but to no avail. Mind you, I wasn't aware that I didn't actually need to kill him. From now on I'll just leg it from the b'stard until the lift comes down.:thumbsup:

RE2 is my favorite and I do not see even the fifth on being better in my mind. The others are good too but RE2 is my vote for best.
There's a part, i think it's just after you reunite with Ashley after having controlled her, where you have to pull a lever to raise a platform to walk accross to a door. Instead of going straight through the door, go left and you enter the room behind the bars, the rocket launcher is in a big glass case with ammo and grenades too. And if you freeze him with the cannisters and shot him with the rocket launcher he's done for and you get a nice piece of treasure..
yeah, camera controll did suck. you know as far as the story goes, i don't think 4 should have been in the RE series. they were more a cult than zombies... i don't know...
2 took to awhole different level in graphics for the time
I'd like to check them all as they could all be my favorites. But the RE1 remake and RE4 are just too badass. If I had to choose one, it would be RE4 as the best, and the original RE as the most memorable. I love cheesy zombie movies as it is...

Well, I tried the 4 minute approach and got killed everytime (or used up all of my health's to stay alive), so I thought I'd try the rocket launcher approach. Here's a hint for you, three or four striker shotgun shots then rocket launch his ass. Unfortunately the shotgun rounds only brought him closer and then I nearly killed myself in the blast. But the bitch is dead. :nanner:
Now I'm on the indiana jones mine carts and struggling to keep the b'stards off my back, but I've only had two goes so I'd better get back to 3rd time lucky :1orglaugh
