rep points (rep power)

Sarcasm in action: This is a great thread!
Ten percent (10%) of this tutorial is conducted by a member who has been "banned4life." If there is any valid information within this thread, it certainly was burried beneath the innocuous quips of what the bulk of this thread consists of. Lt. Col. Custer once ordered his men to shoot anywhere, because they were bound to hit something. That's what this 360-degree misinformationathon seems like to me.
This is a subject worthy of delineation in a concise, easy to read form by authoritative hands rather than by the "Monday morning quarterbacking" gab-fest presented above.

Until you bumped it, the last response was over 1 year and 2 months ago.... Things change.

Read in this thread, what people recently have to say about rep

My posts 23 and 29, may clear up any additional questions.

Once you see what is expressed and explained there, in such detail and in a thoughful and insightful way, you will see why this thread (the one you are now reading) has been left to dust.

It's also worth noting (for those of you who don't want to do anymore research on your own), that:

The rep system is little or nothing more than fun. (Perhaps askew of the original pupose)

The rep system does not play a role in the administration and moderation of the board. (Other than add to our workload at bit with neg rep and flaming rep problems)

The rep rules are already in the Official Board Rules. (I should know, I wrote it.)

bla bla is just how many friend you have in the board and how you are a good suck up

You are certainly entitled to your opinions and far be it for me to tell you what's right or wrong, but let me be quite clear about a couple of things:

#1 - No one forces you to use the REP Feature. It's merely a way for us - the Members - to recognize another Member for his or her's contributions to the Board ... or lack thereof. Does the system get abused? Of course. You will find that anywhere with anything that relies on peer recognition. Welcome to life. Get used to it.

#2 - With an attitude such as yours - and others' as well - I have to laugh and shake my head. If you find it so disagreeable, then why call attention to it? Ignore it and move on, in other words.

#3 - Rather than dissecting what you feel to be wrong with the Board, I would think that you'd gain a lot more respect - and your views being taken more seriously - by being more of a productive member rather than displaying attitudes in which you denigrate, dismiss, make fun of, and insult the things that most of us find viable and useful.

Just my :2 cents: . Certainly not flaming you in any way.

I don't like the idea of rep power, theres actually no point in rep power.
