I do something similar, but I no longer put models in my sig so it's not that easy. Usually I make a sig out of a subject I like or am a fan of. That means I search the internet for pictures on that, and I always find a surprising amount of them just won't work in my signature idea for one reason or another especially when it can only be 100 pixels tall. Not only that but I usually don't just like using one picture and cropping it for my signature. I like adding some artistic element to it somehow when I can, even if it's simple just because that's the way I am. When I add it all together sometimes it can take much more time looking for suitable pictures for material than it does making the actual sig. I'm not a master at Photoshop so it usually takes me a couple hours to make a signature, and a lot of the time I just experiment until I get the effect I want if I can. Add in the fact a lot of the things I like are literary characters or other similar things that sometimes there just isn't a lot of artwork of in the first place and even then a lot of what does exist just isn't that good and you can see why it's a lot of work for me creating one sometimes.
