I wish it was Christmas time....summer is my least favorite time of year.

I love the sweaty slickness of summer. The beads of sweat that slide down my neck. The sweet tinkling sound of ice cubes twirling around my glass and the quiet hum of a ceiling fan.

Hopefully you will excuse all the spelling errors that are in this. I have still to get my word processor going. I was gone from this place for a while. I did something I was hoping I wasn't going to have to do because I didn't feel like spending the money on it. I had to get a new computer. The old one was going out, a lot of new things didn't work on it or were already incompatible already. Even more importantly my computer was basically the only real method for me to search for jobs in the area. It was either that or spend money in gas and car maintenance going everywhere. Sadly in the long run the computer was probably cheaper, if equally futile at finding one. Still I have a nice new shinny LCD monitor.

Unfortunately I also ran into some problems. Almost all the important things I saved from my old computer on CD-R disk won't show up in the new computer's DVD drive. It shows space on the disk taken up, but when I search for items on it, it basically shows all the folders empty. All the artwork I saved in JPEG photos doesn't show up. I have no idea why it's doing that and it's infuriating me. I even checked it in my other computers plain DVD drive to make sure it was readable. So I'm slowly transferring things over on a 128 MB USB flash drive. It's a long process.

I thought about going with Apple but I didn't. They have advantages but I never really liked using their operating system after getting used to windows all these years. Plus if some other thing comes up in the future I don't want to take a chance on having it be made for it. That's another thing. Buying a new computer I pretty much had to get Vista. I don't even know that much about computers and even I can already tell some of it's crappy aspects. I'm also using IE for the time being until I can get Firefox on it. To tell you the truth, it all makes me feel kind of dirty in a way. It's also even worse because I don't have broadband and can't download a lot of the stuff over again easily. Oh, well at least the monitor blows away the other one. It's like I can see things in photos I couldn't before. Too bad either the DVD drive or the operating system won't let them show up.

Hmmmm...I was just going over my e-mails the last few days and I got one from Freeones while I was away. It seems someone tried unsuccessfully to log into my account here and were eventually blocked out after so many attempts where the password was bad. That doesn't make me happy. I hope it was just some idiot that saw I was away and wanted to try something instead of somebody trying to seriously hack it.

While all good things, I still prefer winter. Xmas is always a big deal with my family, and my b-day is around the same time. I would get outside more in the summer, but I'm highly allergic to mosquitos...I end up with huge welts that itch and sting. I'm allergic to bees too...I have to carry one of those emergency pens in case I get stung, so I don't go into shock. Summer is just too hazardous for me, LOL.
