I have always wondered about when people watch a sport that is popular mostly in a foreign country and the teams all come from there how do they pick the team they will become a fan of. (Like maley as a fan of the Jets for example. I also often read through some NFL fan messageboards even though I don’t comment on them that have a surprising number of NFL fans from the U.K.)

I would think most people in the world become fans of the sports team that are local or most near them or at least relatively close by, but that isn't an option in this case. Is it a particular player on a team that somebody liked at one point that made them a fan of the team, do they like the look of the team’s uniform or like the city they are from, or is it some other reason?

Lol, I chose most of them from video game ratings. I like the Atlanta Braves because they had good pitching in VR Baseball 99, the St Louis Rams because they had good offense in Madden 2002, and the New Jersey Devils because they showed up on team select first and had good stats in NHL 2001. Basketball was kinda hard since I only had Space Jam for a while, but I guess I would go for the Phoenix Suns now from having NBA Live 2008.
Although if it was college football I would go for Oregon since I have an aunt that lives there who used to send me Ducks t-shirts.

It's not always that so many people like them, although I'm sure there are a lot of people that do for some reason, but that they are also very cheep to produce compared to other shows.

The profit margin is higher for most reality television shows that are even mildly successful compared to most other shows that might be very good but cost more to produce. It's a pretty sad situation and they will always milk as much money as they can whether it cost them artistic integrity in their programming or not.
