Trilogy? There are 4 Alien(s) movies, 2 Alien vs. Predator movies, and 3 Predator movies (that have been shoehorned into the same universe), for a grand total of 9 movies in the Alien universe. This will be number 10. In fact, it's probably second only to Star Trek as the most prolific sci-fi universe in film. Can anybody think of any others with that many movies?

i treated them as different movies, sorry! AVP as well as the Predator movies are quite different in my book.

also, if you guys wanna pay for our cable or satellite, my girl would be happy to watch it. i, personally, just dont miss it. celebrity news is bullshit. politics is bullshit. i just dont want that in my life. im a lot happier without that shit being crammed down my throat. have you ever noticed how they force you into that muck? even on the tv guide channel, its politics and celebrity crap playing while you're trying to see whats on later. i wonder why they want everyone so involved in other peoples lives. i never got that. so yes, thats why i dont know that girl, think about it. no tv = no pop culture.

all i said was how it looked like a ripoff of alien. and how ridley scott wanted in on an future alien project (as do the fans). (thats inside info!) i happen to fucking love the alien franchise (minus those avp monstrosities) and consider myself a big fan. i also happen to have a small collection of alien stuff so im really into it. like into the whole cast and filming process shit. as a super fan, thats just how it looked.

i didnt say i wouldnt see it. in fact, my girl said she wanted to see it. shes a lot easier to please. will we go to the movies? probably not. its too fucking expensive (and there's poop on the seats.) seriously, whats with movies being so expensive? ill wait for it to be rentable or something.

I have cable television. It's not hard to tune out the crap you don't want to see. You know that black plastic rectangle that comes with a television? Its called a remote. Change the fucking channel. Not to mention you can basically choose to only watch the stuff you like with On Demand and a DVR. Just because you have a television doesn't mean you can't turn it off whenever you want. You don't have to be "glued" to it all the time, brosef

I find I've been watching less and less T.V as well. If it wasn't for the documentary channels I'd get rid of my cable altogether. I just can't be bothered with 99% of the crap on the box these days. I'd rather go fishing every weekend or throw in a video game on week nights than watch the box.

Anyway, what's the deal with Prometheus, should I go see it, wait and rent/buy the DVD or just wait until it eventually ends up on the Movie channel?

I enjoy seeing hugely hyped movies flop. John Carter and Battleship have been especially delightful so far this year. I doubt if Prometheus can recoup it's advertising campaign.

It was a bit above OK. Not spectacular. Not crap. Just, a bit above OK.
The shots were absolutely beautiful. Some of the characters were interesting, others were like some of the marines in Aliens. Fodder.
However, it was incomplete...but I believe on a purpose. I think Scott was looking a bit further than just this film, I am totally sure he has a sequel or two in mind.
Of course, Noomi Rapace is a total babe, and it was great watching her walk around with very little clothing. Same goes for Charlize Theron. Her form-fitting uniform was "wow" worthy.

Anyway, just went to see it. Not the worst movie I've seen, not the best either, still the visual effects were awesome, the acting was great, the plot.... send some human shaped bait to wake up a monster

Though I wish I had read this thread earlier. I went to see it having no idea that it was somehow related to Alien. I might have actually enjoyed it if I had known about that little fact.

So I saw it earlier today,and it really wasn't that good.

The overall design work was excellent.The tone was really good too.The story on the other hand was a total fail.

Now I didn't come into it with and preconceived notions of it having to adhere to some strict Alien continuity,but what I did expect was a good narrative,which this absolutely does not provide.

This movie asks more questions than it answers,most of which are well outside of the Alien mythos.

While I felt that Ridley Scott did an really good job with the directing,this movie's shortcomings can fall squarely on the shoulders of it's writers,one of which is one of the writers of the tv show Lost,so if nothing really makes sense or seems a little confusing,well look no further than Damon Lindelof.

Scott also kept saying that this isn't an Alien prequel,well he's absolutely correct.It seems that it's actually a prequel to a prequel.

I was really hoping that this would be an excellent movie,but truth be told,it's pretty much the biggest disappointment of the year thus far,and will probably go down as the biggest disappointment of the year,unless TDKR really sucks.

2 out of 5 stars for me.Glad I didn't waste the extra money on the IMAX 3D as well.
