So that would make Obama Iceman?

Whatever, that movie was gay.

The term President-Elect has been used before, the only reason you are hearing more of it is because a large segment of the population wants Bush out of office now.

Normally after a election, you would rarley hear about the winner about a couple of days before inaugaration.

A far better argument ...

I don't mind the use of the title, currently that is what he is until his inauguration. However what I am sick of is all the current assholes out there trying to make a buck by selling "AMERICAN HISTORY".
Now this is a far better argument!

The phrase "President Elect" is always used, absolutely, so I don't know what other people are taking issue with. What you presented here is a far better argument.

A crapload of people are out there paying a lot of lip service for a lot of monetary returns. I'm still waiting for that to settle as well. ;)

but... isn't Obama president elect? :dunno:

:1orglaugh

He is the President elect, but this is the first election where we've seen that ridiculous sign every time he gives a speech that says "Office of the President Elect"

He's president in a few more days- fine.

The love affair the media has had/will have with him is nothing short of sickening.

I wish him well as the President.

We will see how long he will last in his first term.

Re: You're kidding me?

not much. but what does that have to do with anything?

Once again, I'm fully aware that is in fact his title and everyone else that has held the same position, I am merely saying that it is my impression that it is being said on the air more often and to the point of annoyance. I could be wrong. that is why I created this thread, to see what other people think about it.

The last time we had a president elect, you were 16. Time before that 8, time before that 4.

You probably just weren't paying attention then, but they always use the term "president elect" before that person takes office.

I remember when Clinton was elected and I also remember when Bush became president and even then I knew he was an asshole and that he was going to get us into a war. believe it or not, I actually paid attention to shit that was happening in the world when I was a kid.

Nice play on the old song by The Who but God forbid Obama is anything like the "old boss"!!
Obama's hands are forced on many things. That's why the saying often holds true with any new President.

He's already disappointed me by hiring lobbyists like he said he wouldn't, under the excuse of experience. Some of us knew that before he was elected, and hoped he would stick to his word and bypass the hiring of lobbyists, even if it meant experience.

Sadly, he'll make many of the same mistakes as a result. Or at least it's looking like he will as a result of "giving in" and going back on his promise. I was really hoping for a "clean break," so I'm not so hopeful anymore.

You know it's not often I state my political views on a forum but here goes...

Anyone...and I MEAN ANYONE that would put thier faith, hopes, dreams, etc.. in the hands of government is a blithering idiot. The government of the USA is a fat, bloated, money consuming, overgrown, individual rights stomping, corrupt, inefficient bureaucracy that can't do anything right, REGARDLESS of which party is in charge. Obama is going to be a miserable failure just like Bush. The only thing he will succeed in growing the ever intrusive government by making more people dependent on the government. Bush has done the same thing, and I think Obama will only make that worse.

You see, I see politicians for what they are. Power hungry LIARS. Obama comes from the heart of the Chicago political machine. He knows nothing but corruption, deceit, and power bargaining. Bush has an excuse. He's stupid. Obama has no excuse, he's already more corrupt than any president in living memory and the media has done nothing but protect this slimeball's actual past from the public eye.

I totally agree

Based on?

His former business partners, political alliances both domestic and international (google Raila Odinga as a starting point), and his 67 blatant lies he's told publically about himself, his family history, and even his name being Swahili in origin. It's amazing what credible stuff you can find when you actually do some research on the political candidates running for office.

Bush is an idiot. Obama is a liar.

Just once I'd like to vote for the greater of 2 goods than the lesser of 2 evils...

It's also amazing what INcredible stuff you can find when that's what you're open to, or looking for; or when you believe what comes to you via mass emailers. For a genuine dose of credibility I'd suggest paying a visit to snopes.com re the Odinga & 67 blatant lies "issues".

Calling him "president elect"...I wish we didn't have to call him that. There's a helluva lot of things that I call him when talking with people about politics, none of them as flatering as that.
