Re: Pornstars without makeup.

I think this is a wonderful representation of the unrealistic standards society places on women at the same time as having almost no idea of what it takes to fit into certain standards.

I don't think societal expectations are doing much of anyone a lot of good. Unfortunately it's become such an institution, such an integral part of life and society that even trying to change things seems like such a huge, daunting, impossible task that almost no one even bothers to try. Which is sad, because ultimately it's all just expectation. It shouldn't seem that difficult since you don't have to change the world, just people's minds.

Here are some of me without make up: in the bottom one I have mascara and maybe some powder or something.

I like wearing make up, always have but I don't mind going without either.

Some pornstars are pissed about the photos, specially Stormy

I don't think I'd be happy about it either. It's one thing to willingly post a photo of yourself without makeup on Twitter or on here. But these girls rolled out of bed and showed up to set as we all do, knowing that you'll be in the talented hands of someone to make you look glamourous. It's a comforting feeling knowing that you can sit and relax and let them doll you up. I imagine these photos were taken for the make up artist to display her work to other possible clients and not intended to be splashed all over the internet.

Re: Pornstars without makeup.

Agree with Roald. Photoshop can work some serious magic, but his point about videos is spot on. Unless you want to go through each individual frame (which means every single itsy bitsy second of the video) and retouch all of that, then there is absolutely zero retouching in video.
On my site I use no retouching whatsoever for any of my shoots, be it video or photo. There's waaaay too much content to bother with that nonsense. Can you imagine retouching 50-100+ photos every single week? No thank you!

Anyway. Here's my no makeup pictures. One sort of closeup and one longer shot. I say I look much better with makeup, and look like a teen without it.

You look really pretty au natural!

Not doing anyone but the multiple billion dollar industries it funds... Agreed on the rest xx

Honestly I'm not sure it even matters. Those industries exist because there's meat on the ground. Capitalism breeds carrion-eaters by it's nature. If one source dries up they'll just scavenge elsewhere. The general resilience of that economic model seems to be primarily based upon it's predatory nature. It doesn't matter what the prey is, so long as prey exists someone will get fat.

EDIT

Oh, and...

... you look really nice. :)

Re: Pornstars without makeup.

Often I see guys talking about how they either love women and girls with heaps of makeup (and seem to HATE natural faces) or love them "without" makeup when what they actually seem to mean the time majority is light and/or natural makeup, and it makes me sad. I feel like as a society we have almost forgotten what natural human peeps look like.
tumblr_m8gfjyRKEt1qardi1o1_500.jpg

A similar photo series to the OP link was posted by LV (high couture fashion label) of their models, some of whom I'm sure you will recognize. LINK . There was a huge shit storm when that picture was posted about how the models looked 'inhuman', 'filthy', 'fugly', etc etc without makeup. Makes you think, when women considered amongst (conventionally) the worlds most beauties are viewed as disgusting, ugly, feral, unhygienic and gross (or at best 'average') simply because they weren't wearing makeup well... a lot of things.

I think this is a wonderful representation of the unrealistic standards society places on women at the same time as having almost no idea of what it takes to fit into certain standards. Fat lot of hope for the average woman should she dare not spend hundreds of dollars a year and hours upon hours grooming, and having to deal with people get shitty at the amount of time it often takes to do full hair and full makeup. (Let alone if you have to do it every day for work). It's not just an option of 'well if they don't want to wear makeup they just shouldn't' or 'women shouldn't be so vain'. When you are considered fugly, lazy, unclean, unkempt and gross if you don't it's not that easy because being considered those negative things has big impacts.

We all look different without makeup. Different, natural, with, without makeup =/= ugly. Someone doesn't look like a 'meth head' or junkie because they have dark circles around their eyes, or is a train wreck because they don't have 10 inches of foundation on with their eyes smothered in potions to make them look huge and doll-like. They just look like people.

It's well and good to prefer plastic fantastic look but I think people need to recognized that we are biased towards one image of beauty by multiple multi billion dollar industries. We all have personal prefs and thats ok, but we don't need to be jerks about it and shame, mock, heckle or harass people who we don't find attractive. In saying all this btw I have no problem with people who like makeup / body mods. There is nothing wrong with it at all! (See video for my opinions of makeup, body mods etc), but if you think regular people looking like actual humans in their natural state is inherently gross, unclean (when it's actually clean that is), or weird... you may need a reality check and some help because humans are humans (unless you aren't human... *suspicious*) :p

Absolutely 100% correct!!! God I love this post. Where is the post of the week thread? I want to nom this in there.

Soooo many men (and women, but mostly men I think) claim that they prefer women without makeup, that they love the natural look. But very men know a single inkling about makeup, other than what a few of the products are called, and most of those products they don't even know exactly what they are, often getting items such as mascara and liner confused, or foundation and powder. They simply don't know. So like you very nicely pointed out, what most men believe is "natural" is not natural in any way, shape, or form, but in fact it's small amounts of flesh toned shadows, beige lip products, foundation and maybe some powder, and mascara.

And then you'll see those very same men who claim to prefer natural looks going out on dates and sleeping with women who have heavier makeup and hair done.

Without makeup, a woman essentially looks exactly like a men, minus the facial hair and masculine, strong bone structure. Our pores show, we get acne from time to time, our lips are all different shades, our skin can be patchy, oily, dry, and greasy, etc. But give us a little makeup, a hair brush, some hair spray, and a heated styling tool, and it's a whole transformation.

Dead on about society's expectations of what a pretty or clean woman. Without makeup, even if our faces are indeed actually clean, we will be called ugly, unhygienic, dirty, nasty, gross, manly, butch, etc. All because first, we see men with pretty women, so we want to be those pretty women, either equally as pretty or prettier. Then, we see all these ads, editorials, porn films and photos, and models who look like these amazing, other-worldly beings, so we want to be that desirable. And because so few woman leave the house without at least a small amount of makeup, very few people even understand what clean and natural truly is.

Ah well... it will never change. Such is life.

Re: Pornstars without makeup.

Out of the original link, I thought Kimberly Gates didn't need any makeup whatsoever! What a woman :drool2: Plus I thought Anissa Kate looked better without makeup.

I also would like to make mention that Harley Spencer, Maggie Green and Jaana Ruutu all look fab without makeup. Aeryn has done some nice sets with little or no makeup and looked great too.

Thanks <3 It's a pretty important topic to me. I have to put up with a lot of body policing and shaming for /zomg/ daring to have clean, neat bodyhair.

Indeed. Most "natural" makeup routines for myself, the women I work with and most women I've met (save one who had flawless skin after laser) include:
moisturizer or face primer, color corrector (the green stuff), concealer, tinted moisturizer or light foundation, powder (mineral or setting), blush/ bronzer or both, eyelash curling, mascara, eyebrow pencil or filler/shadow, nude lip liner and nude lipstick or lipgloss.
Thats 10 products minimum and at least 5 tools for application (gets pricey) for a natural look just for the face let alone hair/body/nails! Natural my ass :p

I do want to say on this note though I don't blame women, porn stars, models etc for this stuff. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. They aren't at fault for unrealistic standards. It isn't their job to change or educate people. They are just doing what they have to do. It's a society problem.

Hopefully it will, though doubtful in our lifetimes. Look at the ideal body and face shape only 100 years ago- totally different! Progress is sure but steady from here on in I think

I'm old enough to remember the pre-bald fad. I don't really get the obsession either way. :dunno:

You'd think people would be happy with a bit more variety as opposed to the seeing the same thing everywhere. You see people preaching left and right about individuality but it seems that most people are almost compelled to hate anything that is outside the currently accepted norm.

Re: Pornstars without makeup.

I like a woman that takes the initiative to pretty up her face before going out. It makes her feel good. By the same token let me tell you about my ex-wife. Minimum 30 minutes for her make up. It wasn't that she wore so much, it was like she was trying to paint a Rembrandt. Her mirror had a name and all overnight travel included it with this tackle box of gear. Couldn't throw a handful of items into her purse and use a bathroom mirror. This shit made us late for everything.

One day I snapped. It was an event planned with a few HER couple friends so they knew all about her make up shit. I told the wife that we would not be late for this under any circumstances. Time to go and she says to call them, we will be 10 minutes late (because of make up). I wait 10 minutes she is not ready. I call and cancel us so they may be on their way. 1/2 hour later she emerges ready to go. Sorry bitch, I hope you like how you look because nobody else is going to see you. We are staying home. Sure she was pissed but I reminded her how pissed her friends would have been making them late just because of her fucking make up ritual. Still she never learned.
