Political Strategy 101 Did McCain Blew it?

John McCain's presidential bid is starting to look more like that of an old salmon fighting against the current, not only does he has to be responsible or held responsible to a degree of all that shit that W has left in the White House, but he's facing critiscim about he being to old, more of the same current administration, looking out for those "big oil" villains, not being enough "conservative" by his own party, the crybabies over Ronmey, etc. So how does he counterattacks what is seen as a successfull Barack Obama jump after the DNC? He picks a little known woman Governor of Alaska as VP.

So what could happen now is...

A. He really pissed off his ultra hard conservative base, I don't think they like the idea that since his age puts him at risk of bailing out or even worst passing away, that a woman should have so much power because she would become the president

B. Having her should attract Hillary's crybabies over because after all she's a woman and she really would be within a heart beat of the presidency.

C. This is just a ploy to counter Barrack's youth and kinda equallized a Barrack/Biden's ticket youth/experience with his own McCain/ Palin

So politico aficionados out there what you all think about the wonderful madness of politics? By the way off the subject Palin has some fuckable look to her, something to do with those glasses/milf look, lol.

The ultra-conservative base is going to love this. Right-wing evangelical voters generally only care about one issue: abortion. And who does McCain pick? A woman who is so Pro-Life that she knowingly gave birth to a baby with Down Syndrome. They'll eat it up.

Naw...he wasn't going to win anyway. I think his choice is smart. The first GOP female VP pick, and she has a child with Downs Syndrome.

So far that is interesting. It seems like they have taken Obama's thunder.

So... she should have aborted a kid just because he has Downs Syndrome?

Jesus, dude.

Now that's why abortion is such a hot debate and it will always be, until maybe genetic enginering takes the spotlight.

The person in my life who I love more than anybody has Down Syndrome.

You are an ignorant moron.

If anything jerkoff, a person knowingly having a baby with Down Syndrome shows this woman has courage and a heart.
Seems like qualities I might like in a president.

But I guess people like you and Obama would prefer she left the newborn baby in a utilty closet to die slowly.

McCain had to shake things up and did. With this pick he overshadows the fabulous speech Obama gave last night somewhat and is looking to appeal to the Hillary supporters who are still smarting over the way they think she was not respected by the Obama camp. How much appeal a woman who is very pro-life like she is will appeal to those voters remains to be seen, about the only thing she has in common with Hillary is being a woman. She has very little real experience and while the republicans can say the same thing and do about Obama the difference is that Obama was selected by millions of people who became convinced he did have what it takes and made him the nominee. This woman was selected by John McCain and it is now on them to convince voters she is ready to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. That sounds like a tough sell.

Yeah.. it really does sound like McCain had a knee jerk moment where he just up and said.. (without thinking) LET'S GET ALL THE WIMMIN VOTERS! AND COUNTER THE INEXPERIENCED GUY WITH THIS ***REALLY*** INEXPERIENCED GIRL!! I mean.. there's no angle there. There cant be a hidden agenda, because it's just such a buttfuck of a decision. He's been whining this whole time about the lack of experience on the democratic side, and.. POOF. S. Palin has even less, and she said she doesnt even know what a VP does. Her energy policies are more in alignment with Obama.. her pro-life status is bound to sway some Hilary voters and hardliners-on-abortion.. (assuming they didnt believe that McCain knew much about his pro-life stance anyway)

Prenatal genetic screening can detect Down Syndrome in the first trimester with reasonable accuracy, and unquestioningly so in the second trimester.

Plenty of time to abort it while it's a lump without a brain, if I wanted to be descriptive yet crude.

SHE HAD A KID AT 43! The chances of having a kid with defects starts really ramping up after 40. She wanted to play the baby game and this is the hand she was dealt.

on a sidenote.. she's a republican that looks like TINA FUCKING FEY! I am so conflicted right now.. do I wank or do I look away in disgust?! So.. hot..

Well even many conservative pundits Bill Kristol(former chief of staff for Quayle) thought it was a great speech. And 38 million people watched which is one of the largest audiences for anything on TV in a long time.I don't know if you saw the speech or read it but it was very well crafted and delivered. And had very little resemblence to any speech MLK ever gave.Racial equality was not a primary theme of Obama's speech which is what MLK usually spoke about.Obama laid out what the choice in Nov was ,more of the republican policys or something new instead. And gave a lot of specifics of what he would do differently than McCain and the republicans.Like I said even many conservatives who strongly disagree with his policys admit it was a good speech.

Obama's speech was awful. Further, parts of it had racist overtones... a lot of Black groups are not happy

McCain did a great job picking Palin. I have been hoping for months he would. The Dems are scared, as evidenced by that the only thing they have to say so far about her is that she is "inexperienced" even though when you subtract from his time in the senate the amount of time Obama spent campaigning and add the fact that Palin has at least some executive experience (more than Obama can say), Palin has far more experience than Obama and she is only running for VP, not President.... she is hot too

Guess what guys? I'm Pro-Life. And I'm thrilled she kept the baby. However, the Alan Guttmacher Institute (an organization specializing in studies of reproductive health and trends) estimated that in 2004 13% of all abortions were specifically because of a physical health problem with the fetus (i.e. Down Syndrome). Its very, very common for women to abort pregnancies because their fetus tested positive for Down Syndrome. And it would not surprise me one bit if any woman, even a Pro-Life Republican, used it as a reason for an abortion.

Except for the fact that a lot of parts in his speech (the 95% tax cut comes to mind) are impossible to take place considering the high number of people who are already exempt from taxes for being in the lowest class
