Which player do you think played the best throughout the world cup?

For me after watching the Final and the Italy/Germany game I think the player of the tournament has got to be Cannavaro, he has been an awesome defender and captain for Italy.

Zidane, and I don't care if he got carded or not. Cannavaro or Buffon second.

Zidane gave the performance of the World cup against Brazil and has was highly influential against Spain & Portugal. Before the sending off he and Gattuso were the two best players on the pitch.

Frings and Lahm for Germany played great throughout the finals. Germany was a lot better than most expected.

But how ironic would it be for Zidane to get the Player of the Tournament award after he was red card and unsportman-like in the final game...

Well, if we're talking about pure skill than Zidane could arguably claim the title. In terms of who people actually like as a player, he basically went out with a "bang", in a bad way.

Cannavaro ITA, Senderos, Barnetta SUI, Klose, Lahm, Mertesacker GER, Zidane, Thuram FRA, Ronaldo POR and outstanding in the Group Series, Prso from Croatia!

And its nice to see the allover Cliche (Brasil) is not mentioned at all...
