Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Who here isn't an expert on pizza for chrissakes??? Another thread where many of us have opinions....all valid within the realm of our own interpretation. Glad everyone seems to like pizza!!!

I prefer thin crust, so would that be NY style? :dunno:

The best pizza I've had has to be Tommaso's in SF. They were the first pizza shop that opened in SF back in the 30's, and they're still the best. Other than that, in the same area, there's Skipolini's and Rocco's. They're both pretty damn good.

from what i,ve heard from quite a few pizza guys in New jersey was that the water in north jersey and new york has alot to do with why the pizza is so good there. To be specific the best pizza is from central N.J. (Ocean/Monmouth county border) and north up until and throughout NYC.

There are many pizzerias throughout Chicago that are really good.

Abruzzi Pizza on Grand Ave, it's a mom and pop joint. Most excellent!!!

The best Hawaiian pizza I had was in Bogota, Colombia...go figure.

OK, first of all, it is absolutely ridiculous that you did not include Italian Pizza, which is the original, but not the best.

Secondly, I am a Pizza connoisseur, my life is on the road so I frequently eat NYC, Chicago and other pizza, and it's all good.

The worst Pizza I have ever had in my life is St. Louis pizza. I can't believe they actually advertise that as a local specialty. Sorry. I hate it.

The best Pizza I have ever had in my life is right here in Buffalo NY. There are 15-20 Pizzerias that make more amazing Pizza than you will ever find in Chicago or NYC, and it's very different to both. It's just divine. You have to try it to know what I mean. The best.

So. Best Pizza.

1. Buffalo NY
2. Chicago and NYC thin (tied - I cannot choose between the two)
3. NYC Sicilian Style
4. Italian Pizza
5. English Pizza
6. French Pizza
7. St Louis Pizza

Nowhere else has Pizza famous enough to make the list, not that I know of.

Except Philly. I have never tried Philly Pizza.

Pizza (Italy) and Pizza (US) are basically a different dish.

If you are going to Chicago, there are 10 Pizza places you have to try, but my favourite is Giordano's. It's divine.

If you are going to NYC, there are 20 Pizza places you have to try, but my favourite is Ray's - there are lots of Ray's, some of them not as good, but they're what I recommend. If you want NYC Sicilian I recommend Joe's Pizza on 6th Avenue in Greenwich Village (around about 8th St) in Manhattan. There's a Ray's there too, about 10 stores down, and there are some good Ray's on 8th Ave in Chelsea/Midtown and on 4th or 5th maybe up by Central Park East.

Enjoy summer while it lasts up there because befor you know it comes feet and feet of snow! NJ not that bad

NYC Style out of those choices, but I would have to say I like "original crust" where its deep dish but its not thin either. I like my pizza straight up with sauce (without chunks of tomato), cheese, and pepperoni.

Oh! I forgot! San Francisco has fantastic Pizza! Best Pizza west of Chicago, in my opinion! However, it's not really its own style so it's hard to put SF pizza on the rankings table. Nevertheless - good point! SF Pizza! Excellent!

I ate Pizza at North Beach Pizza in SF on the most special night of my life.

I've had North Beach Pizza before. Several times. In fact, one of the venues where I work used to get us North Beach every night we had a show. That was before we unionized. Back when 6-8 cases of beer and 5-6 pizzas for the crew were part of the production budget. Ah, those were the days...

Mind if I ask what was so special? Did it have to do with the pizza? ;)

I like BOTH the NY as well as the Chi-town styles.

But for me, my heart, palate and stomach will always belong to "Just Pizza" of Buffalo, NY.

*sigh* I miss Buffalo... :(

cheers,

I love me some Little Star Pizza.

If you're in San Francisco it's a must.
