Pirates

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
I just watched a program on piracy. Here's what I took away from it:
Somali pirates live as dangerously on land, if not more so, as on sea - Mogadishu is still a warzone.
Somali pirates only started taking trade ships after being upset by international dumping of waste in their waters, which ruined their fishing livelihood, poisoned their wells and led to the deaths of 35 people in a single instance.
The piracy problem was largely ignored until they hijacked a ship containing heavy weapons (I saw a tank with E.R.A. that looked like a T72).
French special ****** stormed a small ship called the Tanit. After eliminating all somalis, the (white) owner of the ship broke cover and was promptly eliminated by French special ******.
The area of ocean the international task ***** must patrol is approximately half a million square miles. The Somali ships are hard to see on radar.
The only people in Somalia opposing the pirates are extremist Moslems. The only people ever known to have driven the pirates from a port are extremist Moslems. A Sheik who was removed from power by the West was bought back to power by the West in order to restore order.
The funds the West is providing to restore order are a fraction of what the pirates make from ransoms. Ransoms keep getting paid because the companies save more money that way.
However much the companies may talk about saving the crew, sailors are rarely covered by international law and are often attrociously treated by their employers.
