Parkour

Parkour is interesting to watch, the chance of serious injury is very high. You must be young and not weigh very much for this sport. An alternative to skateboarding for the youth to get involved in. I cant see someone making much of a career from parkour.

:shocked: that is freaking gymnastics on ~steroids~ There is an escapist/superhero aspect to it that is addictive and intriguing.

It's is mainly conditioning.:2 cents:

What kind of conditioning? How do you practice or train for that?

It's not easy...I have been in to it...for 3 yrs...but training and doing it for 2...

I was in damned good shape from rock climbing, mountain climbing, scuba and swimming among other things before I took on Parkour. But you have to condition yourself for the specific maneuvers exercised doing basic Parkour.

In other words..if you do enough of any maneuver or calisthenic ur muscle will condition to that. Having said that, Parkour isn't for everyone...but it's not exclusive either.

I have bad tendinitis from years of heavy weight lifting (which I still do), I couldn't even think of doing it.

:confused::confused:

You could still do it if you wanted to...there are many many maneuvers in the sport....

The key is (as with anything) to start on the basics and you will naturally want to conquer more sophisticated maneuvers.

I love the sport but I also have a business interest in it too. To sell a curriculum to an aspect of military operations. Again..I was in really good physical condition prior to Parkour and it was a definite challenge for me because I just wasn't conditioned for specific maneuvers.

It's actually pretty cool and I'm positive I could have gotten into it 15 years ago when I was in much better shape, younger and was a lot more agile. Just make sure you take those falls properly or you can end up busting both your knees like what happened to me....long story, don't ask :D

I imagine this is a young Mega practicing his hardcore parkour moves.

It's a good thing if you're young and don't have to worry about injury affecting your job. I don't know if my boss would accept the fact that I broke my arm sliding down a drain pipe.
