Ozzy Osbourne....Black Sabbath

Piggybacking on this with some solo Tony Iommi. If you like Sabbath but haven't heard this, give it a shot. Glenn Hughes' vocals might be an acquired taste but the Wall Of Doom is definitely there. Glenn Hughes was the vocalist for the Black Sabbath album Seventh Star also.

I'll have to check these out but within seconds ''Damaged Soul'' disappeared and these appeared, it's a good deal.

Ozzy's success after Sabbath can be credited to Sharon's managerial skills and surrounding himself with virtuoso musicians.,

The last good album Ozzy recorded with Sabbath was Technical Ecstasy.

Ozziy's voice is what it is. Distinctive and haunting. Perfect for heavy metal.

I also liked the Ronnie Dio era of Sabbath. Heaven and Hell blew my mind when it was released and a few of us at the time were like "Ozzy who?"

Later it became apparent what a force Ozzy was for heavy metal and will always deserve to have the title of Grandfather of the genre.

Good stuff !

why in gods name is the opening act Andrew WK?

why is his band not playing instead he is doing a fucking DJ set of metal music?

why not have goblin play they are touring the us? or get any band from rise above records to play :brick:

Something about the music from back then is just awesome! I can play any rock album (well, except the Eagles- really tired of them other than a few select songs) over and over and never get tired of them. I'm planning on picking up a Grass Roots and Animals collection in the future. Those are two really good maybe forgotten bands nowadays. I love that entire period- all the music, haha. Even rare bands (thanks to the internet for helping me discover these!) To name one rare band- Camel! Bad band name, excellent guitar playing!

Camel. Good shit. I love progressive rock. Everything from Cream to Iron Maiden from that era. How bout the Stooges or Motorhead? I'm really into speed metal and hardcore punk and I think both of those bands really lit fire under all those bands asses.

@Lacey Black, It's nice to know there's an OCSM here that likes metal. I wonder what other OCSMs here like Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. I haven't heard the new Black Sabbath album but I'd give it a chance cause it's fuckin' Sabbath. I like em' with the other vocalists too, but I think I like em' with Ozzy the best. Ya just can't fuck with Paranoid, Master of Reality, Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage. I don't know how people can't like Ozzy's vocals. I mean he's no Halford, but it works. I haven't heard the Headless Cross yet, but when alotta people bash an album like that, it just makes me curious. Voivods Angel Rat is like that and I love that album. It reminds me of the Stranglers. I listen to a lot of shit besides metal. Shit that a lot of people might think it's weird that I listen to, like the Bee Gees, Prince and Kool and the Gang. I love Nina Hagen and the Tubes. That's two different bands there, not one.

Stooges rock. Funhouse is a terrific early punk album and it just plain rocks. Iggy Pop may have been right when he said the Stooges could out-rock anyone on the planet if they wanted to. The Tubes are a great band if you love experimental vocals and other things. The debut album is my favorite, though the next 3 are really good too (especially Remote Control). I should know more about Motorhead than I do. I know they kick ass though. Cream is awesome live, though the studio stuff is turning out to be more awesome than I realized many years ago. That was the best thing Clapton ever did IMO- be a part of that band. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band from the 80's. Love the gory looking album covers and the melodic way they write progressive metal with the chugging riffs. They have an *awesome* sound! Headless Cross was a letdown to me but to be fair, I haven't heard it in a good 12 years so who knows. The new Sabbath album is mostly awesome (at least, the longer songs) but I really wish Bill Ward returned for a true reunion. Still, Iommi's guitar solos are getting better the older he gets which is amazing!

Damn, that was some good music. The last one reminded me of 80's hair metal sound with the vocals and instrumental even though later in that song the music got heavier. The third one maybe too. I will have to listen to these over again. Thanks for posting this stuff....very, very much appreciated !

Music has no age limits, but it is somehow strange if teens go to listen to band whose members are about seventy years old.

And probably think they are just starting out ! At times years ago, i saw bands where i was the adult among kids. Amazing how it works out.
