Let me work backwards from this thread because it's going in way too many directions.
In no way whatsoever am I in favor of voter photo ID laws. Zero. Voter registration In NJ needs to prove residence in a district 30 days prior to an election. The registration process asks for DL and or last four SS numbers but not required. Pieces of mail can be used to provide proof of residence but the registration process will take longer to verify eligibility. At the bottom you swear:
that you are a US citizen
live at the above address
at least 18
living in the state and county for 30 days
not on parole, probation or serving a sentence due to a conviction for an indictable offense under any federal or state laws
Signing on that line puts you at risk of 5 years and $15k. Find me the fools to get involved in such a fraud with that kind of penalty. Imagine the backlash to any group and party to finance buying enough votes to swing a district. Not going to happen. Are photo IDs helpful in the process? Sure, just like in everyday life. But it should never be necessary for a citizen's right to vote.
With this in mind and these simple things in place, I don't want to hear any excuses not to vote. We as citizens are given the privilege of having our voices count. Get your asses out there or shut the fuck up. I can not believe any of you that try to justify not voting. Come on with that,"not my issue-rich white blah, blah, blah" bullshit. Elections are not an every 4 year thing. Councils, school boards, budget issues. These are the things that affect where you live. Your neighborhoods and the streets you drive and shop every day. And if you don't think my white old conservative hairy ass thinks differently then you are sadly mistaken. I may not agree with the solutions with certain situations but I'll have to live with what the community demands.
And so brings me to Al Gore. Are you still butt hurt over this? Go do your homework and crunch some numbers. Al had a state constitutional deadline to submit his recounts. Rules in place before the election. Sorry, but every state has their regulations in place so that November elections don't turn into May. Al couldn't manage to win his home state of Tennessee either. And don't go back to those stories of voters getting road blocked in Florida. It's just so tiresome.
Which brings me to people having the day off with pay to vote? What the fuck are you proposing? So my employer pays me to vote. Who pays the unemployed to vote? Don't they deserve the same money and who pays them...and how much? I don't know about Florida but you don't need an entire day to vote. I think it's 6am-9pm in Jersey. Transportation to the polls can be gotten by contacting the parties. You can get a mail in ballot upon request if you may not have that time in your schedule. You want to expand the hours to vote till midnight or make it a 24 hour midnight to midnight thing then fine. But election day is 1 day only, no need to make this a whole weekend. We all know when it is way in advance and have the opportunity to make those provisions.
And who is denying that there is racism? The Civil Rights Act is pretty cut and dry but I also recognize that people don't respect it. Quotas have been put into place to stem some of this. That's a shame from both sides of the coin. It shouldn't be necessary. Why has progress been so long to eliminate this? I blame the Democrats and that socialist shit that always think that throwing money at a problem is always the solution. Enter those high rise housing projects and unlimited welfare. Nice move. Now let's convince these people that nothing will ever be their fault, liberals will always protect them. Good, I'm for everyone having a decent place to live and opportunity but somehow that wasn't built into the system. Well, yea it was. That came with the pump into education to bring minorities into higher education. Somehow it never melded in. It became easier to and more beneficial for mom to raise her income by having more children. Go do your numbers of minority single mothers over the decades. Don't forget to attach the current social acceptance of "Baby Daddies".
So what makes you any different from what I posted above? End result your son is now in college. Why? You got him to stay home and study. His mom stepped up with nothing more going for her than anyone else in the same situation. Do you really think that you had any advantage over those that are in their 3rd generation of that system? A world where the white system can never be broken into? You didn't believe those liberals when they blamed the white system for your situation and I find it hypocritical you blame it for others.
Ehh... I'm tired now. Prejudice? I'll never understand it in my life now. Been here too long to see it. It's a fucking waste of time to be prejudice. What do we do? I don't know. One thing for sure, I'm not going to blame music or culture. Gang banger, Hip-Hop, guns in the hood ain't nothing more than art. I ain't taking acid and those before me aren't racing their cars off of cliffs anymore. I made stuffed peppers yesterday.
