I believe the soldiers and any other boots on the ground are the TRUE heroes. But let me ask you something, if the mission had become a clusterfuck, the U.S. soldiers had been killed by the Al Qaeda guards and he had escaped... WHO WOULD BE TO BLAME? Same one that got the blame when Carter tried to rescue the hostages in Iran and that went south real fast: the President. And that factored into his loss to Reagan.
