Yes they did! He was great back then and I am expecting him to be just as good or even better now. He almost scored in his first game back. I really hope that he is here to stay for a few seasons atleast
very underrated player if ya ask me.

Fucking Rangers why did they trade Aaron Ward we just fucking signed him, I hope this dude we got for him was worth trading away Stanley Cup experience.
WTF? The only transaction that Gainey did is to acquired Leighton from Philadelphia.
The Isles just got a great player in Ryan Smyth, making a trade to bring him to NY from Edmonton, i just hope they can lock him into a long term deal seeing as he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Im really pleased with the job Ted Nolan has done with this team, he actually made them a team, a more cohesive unit than they were last season. It also helps that the NY Rangers:throwup: are basically going down the tubes:nanner: so my hockey season is shaping up pretty nicely, as long as the Isles keep up the good play, and with Smyth they should be able to.
Edmonton getting rid of Ryan Smyth was one of the biggest mistakes and shockers of the NHL trade deadline. I was sad to see Ryan go as he was one of the better player on the Oilers. I know that he will be a good addition to the NY Islanders.
At least the trades that Canucks did were not anything like the one with Ryan Smyth. I am really glad that the Canucks did not get rid of any of there top players like other teams did.
Don't be surprised if Smyth signs with Edmonton during the summer .

really? If they are going to sign him back why did they trade him in the first place?
That's because Vancouver is good whereas Edmonton won't make the playoff, that's why they gave one of their good players.
They traded him to get some good prospects and a draft pick from the islanders and Lowe knew that he still had a chance to sign Smyth during the summer .
I remember while watching the A Canucks game last night, that one of the commentators said " One year a team can be one of the best teams in the league and then the next year they are the worst and then the next year they can be the best team" I swear he was talking about the Oilers
Or in the case of my Redwings it can be the same season. Best team all year, President's Cup then dumped in the first round.
great game Buffalo-Montreal 8-5:bowdown:
We traded for Aebischer you know..:dunno:
I just don't get it...the roster hasn't changed that much since December, but we somehow went from 4th (and within like 6 points of Buffalo) to getting walloped everynight and missing the playoffs. :crying:
Leighton wasn't in net was he?
