They probably would've won it all last year if they didn't get nailed by injuries. If they beat NYI in their next game, they tie Toronto's record for best start ever. The footnote being that Buffalo won 3 games in shootouts, which would've been ties during Toronto's era. I think the shootout bastardizes the game.

I'm also getting sick of the officiating. 3 of 4 penalties are undeserved. Some guy with bucket feet trips on his own stick, and the nearest opposing player gets a penalty. I've actually seen it happen, it's ridiculous. The penalties were meant to improve the flow of the game, but it's actually got the reverse effect now because so many damned penalties are being called. The referees need to lay off a smidge.

Yeah I aggree sometimes they give stupid penalties that are really undeserved . In the end I still prefer the style of hockey they play now , at least the gameplay is open and hooking and obstruction are gone from the game .

You mean the castrated style of play where the refs hand out penalties for stuff that was legal 2 or 3 years ago? This "new nhl" sucks

But now you never see a Gordie Howe hat trick (Goal, assist, fight). The game is supposed to be physical, let them play. Yes call penalties on players that are just out there playing grab-ass but clean physical play is what most people want to see.
When was the NHL at it's highest popularity? During the mid to late ninties when the Detroit-Colorado rivalry was at it's peak. Tough, physical hockey. Give me more of that. :2 cents:

speaking of which, the rivalries of today lack ridiculously in comparison with the rivalries of the past. I miss those rivalries. I mean, i remember when the wings/avs rivalry was huge, everyone in the D would circle that day months before. Now, i can honestly say i am not looking forward to any one game. it's sad

wow, has anyone seen malkin play? i saw the pittsburgh highlights at yahoo sports nhl, and wow, 4 games, 4 goals, already looking like a superstar. and he's already better in some areas than ovechkin (involving teammates, passing, poise and control, amazing

I saw little bit of the Pens/Devils game lastnight. Malkin has some serious skill. It's scray how good he is. I think he's even better than Crosby

i know, i felt the same thing at times. its scary, with the two of them for years and years. you think malkin's ego might get the better of him and he might leave for a team where he'll be #1? i just don't think he'll be able to handle being #2 the rest of his life

I think it might be the other way around. Sidney might not able to handle being #2 behind Malkin.

What on earth is up with the scheduling? What idiots designed it? i mean the red wings are only playing 12 games in 31 days of october!! and they've gotten 4 3-day-breaks!!! in one month!!!

Malkin can eat me. I don't think I've ever been so pissed off and disappointed as I have been so far this season. Start shopping Forsberg,Gagne,Pitkanen,Meyer,Niitymakki,Richards,Carter,Umberger, and Lars Jonsson. None of these guys are worth a penny right now.

nice logo lol. i'm surprised why people are surprised philly's doing bad. all of us onthe board predicted philly would do bad with their slow D and slow offense. they've got no weapons. gagne depends on forsberg, and forsberg's not producing, and richards and carter haven't exploded yet,
