Liverpool will not challenge for the title this year. For Liverpool without Suarez this year, see Spurs without Gareth Bale last year. They had their chance, they blew it. They might finish in the top 4, but they will not come close to a title challenge. No fucking chance.

You're having a laugh. We're going to come 6th-8th. Man United, City or Arsenal will win the title, we won't be anywhere near Chelsea or Liverpool. We'll be grateful for 6th.

BINGO! Last season was the "Perfect Storm" for Liverpool. NO European competition of any kind so they could focus 100% of their attention on the PL (I know they may have had the League and FA Cup but big teams like 'Pool don' care all that much about these 2). They had the lethal goal scoring "SAS" combo and they even snuck up on teams. That is all gone this season. They had the CL and don't figure to come in last place in the group meaning they will either advance to the KO Stage of the CL or if they finish 3rd in the Group - go to the Europa League. No Suarez meaning Sturridge won't have as much free space to roam. Stevie G is a year older, too. I don't think Liverpool gets a T4 spot

I DO think Man U - does. They are Liverpool from last season. I know missing out on European football will cost them money - lots of it - but for Van Gaal this is a massive blessing in disguise. Now, like 'Pool last season, Utd can focus 100% of their attention on the PL. No long plane trips to Russia or similar. They have the League and FA Cup but that won't affect them much if any. Thy will be more well rested than the 4 CL teams from the PL and things can't be as bad as last season. I think Man U finishes no lower than 4th and while they probably won't win it getting them +450 to win the PL is damn tempting.

I agree with Robbie Earle of NBC Sports when they did the season preview...........Mourinho will either celebrate a title or things will blow up and he could be fired/sacked.

Man City is now the Hunted - not the Hunter. We saw how that went in 2012-13. They drop too many points on the road for my taste and unlike last year they won't go unbeaten at home

Arsenal is the hot babe you so wanna sleep with. She is beautiful but teases the hell out of you. At times she makes you think you can fuck her but in the end - it won't happen. Arsenal will be near the top but they don't have enough heart to win it all.

I know the "experts" are picking Chelsea but I'm just not sold on them. They could but whatever happens to them won't shock me.

I have no clue who will win the league this season because I can make more cases for a tam NOT winning it than for them TO win it.

Gun to my head: Man City.......but I'll pray the gun isn't loaded.

Man U off to a great start. Spurs, down a man for over 60 minutes, pulls out a road win. It's early, but I'm liking the season so far.

Was at the United game yesterday. Still trying to come to terms with Fellaini coming on for Herrera. Thought we'd win the league by 15 points, looks like it will only be 12 now.

Very early days but I would expect Chelsea to win it. My only reservation over them for this season was thinking that it might take Diego Costa a while to settle in but he's hit the ground running. Fabregas has been immaculate so far as well.

The last part of Everton v Chelsea the other day were the most entertaining few minutes of football I've seen for quite some time. You could argue that the three goals Chelsea conceded shows that they have defensive frailties but I think a) it was a freak occurrence and b) they have sufficient fire-power up front for it not to be a problem!

Man City and Chelsea are a cut above their closest challengers in the division, that's for sure.

Southampton 8-0 Sunderland

The Saints have the best defense of all 20 Premier League teams! Only conceded 5 goals so far this season.

Man United desperately need 3 points tomorrow to get back into the top 4 battle. The Mancunians face Chelsea next weekend....

At the risk of being banned for typing negatively about Tottenham, it is tough to take them seriously when they always lose against the top teams. Oh sure, they will get one win and one tie in the ten games they will play versus the top five, but it will continue to show they are not ready for prime time. And may never be.

Time for Spurs to cut their losses with Soldado surely? Can't even score a penalty now and that's the only way he could score in his early days at the club. It just doesn't seem like it's going to happen for him. The striking situation has been a problem for some time. Can't rely on Adebayor. He'll play like a world beater for the first couple of months when signing for a new club and then go right off the boil. Seems like he treated his return after AVB's departure as signing for a new club as he scored a load of goals when he came back into the side under Sherwood...

Aguero was unbelievable in that game by the way so don't be too down.

Too many players have their best games against Spurs. When was the last time a Spur had one of those games?

I'm pretty sure Lloris saves more points each year than virtually any other goalie in the league, just a pity he can't score 20 a season for them too. Courtois looks like he might be as good but I'd have to see more of him to be sure (didn't watch much CLeague last year).

So who's the best of the rest this year after City and Chelsea? I reckon its a tossup between Arsenal and Man Utd. Even as a Liverpool fan I'm totally perplexed at how we can play this shit and still be ahead of Arsenal when their team should be better than last year. I'd tip Arsenal over Utd just because Utd's defence is almost as ropey as Liverpools.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Man United sign a couple top defenders in the next transfer window. Add the attacking power of Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney & Van Persie, and they should be able to end in the top 4, which equals qualification for the Champions League. Chelsea & Man City are in a league of their own, although City aren't as dominant in away games as they are at home. The match away at West Ham is going to be interesting....

I see the Red Devils finishing 3rd, Arsenal 4th and Liverpool 5th. :)

My prediction for Manchester United vs Chelsea this weekend.... 0-5 .....

Yup need 2 central defenders right now and they'll be top 4 for sure. I wouldn't be so sure about the 0-5 prediction for Utd vs Chelsea though unless Hazard has one of his unstoppable games.
