There are probably more generals in the USA than their are hairs on your head. The President meets with the Joint Chiefs of Staff among others.

I had no idea there was so many generals. I was thinking one general per branch or something like that at most.

Are you serious? In the Army alone there is

Brigadier General-one star
Major General-two star
Lieutenant General-three star.
General-four star
General of the Army-five star

Five star is ONLY for war time use and is not currently active in today.
Every batallion, brigade, division, command, you name it it has a general attached to it. And that JUST the Army.

At heart this thread illuminates a very american trait: that the military are more important citizens than the general public. They are not. They are absolute equals.

To be fair to the military they seldon complain, but those who complain on their behalf never stop moaning.

Do people really think most average soldiers were real thrilled with Bush? Multiple deployments overseas with shortened time at home was the rule.
No wonder they needed to give big incentives to re-enlist.How many years in Iraq and for what? Were leaving and they (the Iraqis) are glad as heck about that.Soon as we do the violence there will probably really get statred again so they can setlle things for themselves.They I'm sure already and never were appreciative of our invasion.Think most americans think it was huge mistake as well and that perception will only grow as time goes by.
