Non political/political thread

I just saw the new "Romney day 1" ad. I thought it was the most affective ad I've seen this cycle.

Just saw that ad myself. Ambitious plans for "Day 1," but it seems like it may speak the language a lot of voters are looking for.

On a related note, as far as political advertising as part of campaigning goes, I really wish the "attack ad" era would come to an end, but attacking the credibility/record of one's opponent is a tremendous campaign strategy. I know we've seen some already, but am sure we'll start to see more and more of those, with harsher tones/claims, as the campaigning ramps up.

Oh, and "yay for us" for talking politics for 20+ posts and not getting into a full-fledged, partisan fight! Yet...

Let us not forget the issue of VP's. Choosing a VP could also be considered a campaign strategy. Who is Romney going to choose? Will Obama keep Biden? Will Biden decide to retire or somehow told to retire? A new VP would most likely refrese the Obama campaign, as a conservative, that is something I worry about but putting Hillary on the ticket and suggesting Biden to retire would really make me think about Mittens throwing in the towel. There you'd have the whole Chicago political machine against a moderate (?) New England Republican. Well, Mittens is no John McCain, but still kind of wobbly.

And another thing, I think Obama is focusing too much on Mitten's history at Bain (and it's backfiring), but what about Mitten's record as MA gov.? I do believe he may have a lot of baggage there, reason why we "red meat" conservatives weren't too keen on the guy.

The way I look at it, yes the economy is improving but not as rapidly as we like. Whether you want to blame the president, republican congress, the price of oil or European economic problems (the argument is for another thread) I think the president's reelect's strategy to present Romney as an unsafe alternative . I think this ad goes to dispelling that notion.

Not at all. Remember Sam is coming back. I guess you will run away crying when he does. Just like last time.

You two should meet. I want to see that on video. ;)

I made my reasons for taking a break from posting pretty clear, and it wasn't Sam. I know you have incredibly low reading comprehension, so I don't blame you. I blame your parents. They were clearly terrible to you. You wouldn't have turned out so badly, otherwise.

:nono: You are not an adult nor are you a full-fledged member of this site.

You don't realise how much comedy you provide this forum. And it is all at your expense. We're laughing at you, not with you.

 :wave2:

Dirk  We know why you left.

My reading skills are far above the majorities level.

The problem is, most of you people take things that should not be taken seriously far too seriously.
Things that should be taken seriously and you turn apathetic.

Can we puh-leeze get back to talking about politics and politicians.....as the thread title suggests?

Sure, Rob Portman, Senator from Ohio as Romney's VP. With FL more likely than not locked for Romney with Rubio's endorsement, and Portman (hopefully) giving Mittens OH, what predictions you guys have?

Then with stuff like the primary election in VW, where Obama lost 41% of Democrat votes to a guy in a TX jail, plus the primaries in AK and KY doing something similar with about 40 some % voting for someone else, it's not a good sign for the Pres. if that same 40% in each state decide to vote R or third party or just stay home on election day. I mean, Democrat primaries, where the Pres. should have about 90 plus % of the vote, it doesn't look good for him.

You could have said the same thing (in fact they did) with the pro-Hillary faction. They kept yammering about not showing up on election day, and look what happened.

It's up to Obama to run an effective campaign and show voters what a hopeless mess Mittwich will be. If he does, all these primary shenanigans will be forgotten preety quick.

I wish Obama would get away from talking about Bain Capital. In my opinion its not a winning argument and there are some in the Democratic Party who feel the same way. I'm with Bill Clinton in saying that instead of talking about Bain Capital, focus on Romney's record as governor of Mass. This is where you want to attack him

Yup. Mittens is very vulnerable if they focus on his record as Gov. MA was 47th in job creation, but with an unemployment rate at around 5% (and in fact even dropping below that) during his term as Gov. it's hard to argue that the preezy has done a better job if his unemployment #'s stay above that. Make no mistake, dems, O-face will face a major challenge with Mittens here. I don't think it'll be a landslike like what happened in WI with Walker's win by 7 POINTS!! (in yo' face, unions!!) It'll probably be a lot closer in the Romy/O-face contest so just because nobody you know is going to vote for Romy, doesn't mean that nobody in the entire country is going to vote for Romy. He's got my vote.

The local bird cage liner is pushing Portman HARD for veep!

Ohio is the key to the entire election. Whoever wins it, wins it all IMO.

Just ask John Kerry.
