Re: No more Facebook

I signed up about two years ago under a false name (I chopped half of my simply because I wanted to see everybody else's profile to a greater extent than non members . . . Other than that, I basically like to remain incognito, as the last thing in this world I need are strangers following me or undesirables from the past trying to contact me!

I also detest the culture and the politics of f-book and google chair people, they're just a bunch of spoiled weenies with a little bit of intellectual property that pays them exorbitant amount of money. . .
. . oh, yeah, and they often meet with obama and discuss matters involved with changing the world.

I've never used one of these so-called social sites, nor will I start.

It's not only the site itself, it's the users, sharing everything with everyone (HumancentiPad rings true). I reluctantly got a Facebook recently. I'm barely ever on, but it's useful sometimes to contact family and friends who I rarely see. Also, unfortunately, a lot of companies and organizations are easier to contact nowadays through Facebook than other means. You don't have to get sucked in though. People go too far into the extremes, either it's awesome or the worst thing ever. Like most things, it falls in between.

Exactly. Facebook, or any social networking site is only as evil as you make it. If you don't want your personal info online, don't put it in. If you think people waste too much time on fb, don't spend all your time on fb. Use it for what it was made for. Don't abuse it.

^LOL.

Facebook isn't addicting at all for me. I find it really hard to remember logging in and to show how seriously I don't take the site...my default pic is a chair.

i've always had no more facebook, so much so that i never signed up, i did sign up for myspace when it was big to try it out and then logged in a few times before i decided it was boringly high school-like

Congratulations on just deleting it, I would imagine it is hard to do with everyone having one these days.

I agree with rivers that the way a lot of people use it is dumb and is what contributes to so much of the ridiculously useless posts that are on there but lets face it that is how facebook is setup to be used in the first place. Not the mention all of the privacy issues FB has had in the past and still has today, I have always said FB is a stalkers dream come true.

Facebook has been irrelevant outside of stalking for a few years now.

It'll slowly go the way of AOL chatrooms and myspace. Soon to follow with all hope are Twitter and formspring.

Good for you. I never got into the facey spaceys. I had enough with watching my roommates waste their lives checking their comments or friending people. Wait a minute- friending?!? I thought that was something that happened over time, as a result of repeated interaction between two people. That process has now been abbreviated to the click of a button?!?
