No one is suggesting that America is the only country where this happens. QUOTE]
Yes they are. They suggest this all the time. They suggest it on this board and all across the interweb.
But your choice of countries you compared America with is confusing.
I explained the rationale for the comparison quite well.
All the countries you mentioned are/have been involved in bloody and brutal civil wars and all within living memory. Are you seriously suggesting that living in America is akin to living in Syria??
Again, I did a very good job stating my thoughts on the matter. A psycho walks into a preschool with a gun because he knows no one else will have one. Assad and other dictators keep their populace unarmed because it's the easiest way to be a despot. Boko Haram massacres entire villages and enslaves children because the populace is unarmed. Mexican drug cartels murder by the dozens because the populace is unarmed. Hell, Britain made Scotland a vassal state by keeping the populace unarmed. The monarchies of Europe and Asia treated their populations as serfs by keeping them powerless. Medieval Japan was quite clear on the subject: no one below the rank of samurai is allowed any arms for fear of revolt.
America's Founding Fathers formed the Bill of Rights specifically based on how Europe ran itself. And the 2nd thing they thought up was the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
