Just remember folks, Zombies are people too... Or at least, they were. There is something to be said about the need for brains though, some commentary on not having or using your brain makes you dead. So Zombies are definitely real, most can be found doing mindless work like Marketing or Politics. Or is that merely soulless work?

And Jon, bravo on "Living Impaired"... many lols were had.

So, does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? They're calling for a tropical storm with LOTS of rain (over 10 inches by Monday) this weekend where I am, so it looks like a wash out, and staying indoors watching tv/movies for me.!

It's Lee. I broke my ankle in a car accident back in Dec. '89....and though the surgeon did an amazing job on it.....when wet weather comes (they're calling for the possibility of 10+ inches of rain through Monday....but it's supposed to be mainly a rain event), arthritis often kicks in. Needless to say, arthritis has kicked in......UGH!!!!! Ha ha ha!

Well, given the ones who seem to be drawn to politics these days, I'd argue that it is BOTH mindless AND soulless work....SAD but true unfortunately. I'm glad you appreciated that "Living Impaired" quip......I figured, given the sharp wit you have displayed on MFC, if anyone would appreciate that....it would be you! Ha ha ha!

Um, yeah....I "think" it was played out a couple of days ago....at least. That's what I was getting at actually when I said I was all "zombied out" and then changed the subject. I was praying most would take the hint. Ha ha ha! I'm actually still perplexed as to how one mention snowballed so badly. Ugh! Personally I don't get the fascination myself....but what are you going to do? Sometimes I just work with the material they give me on here......until I get really tired of the subject.....which, with this one, happened awhile ago actually. Ha ha ha!

Here is the simplest answer to your question I could find....per Wikipedia:

The first big Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882, by the Central Labor Union of New York. It became a federal holiday in 1894, when, following the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals during the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland reconciled with the labor movement. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike. The September date originally chosen by the CLU of New York and observed by many of the nation's trade unions for the past several years was selected rather than the more widespread International Workers' Day because Cleveland was concerned that observance of the latter would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair, which it had been observed to commemorate. All U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the territories have made it a statutory holiday.

That was a great members webcam show that just took place

Would have been on earlier, but i had some computer gremlins that made me reboot my pc i was all setup for it prior to the start, couldn't get back on until 25 minutes later. Being on the opposite side of the world, i have not been able to participate in every members chat since i joined the site back in May (today was my first appearance for a few months)... but i do enjoy them :nanner:.

In regards to the last few minutes of the show, i actually started checking out streamate and other webcam sites (have not looked at MFC as yet), funny thing is that i had not considered trying to see Nikki in that medium - as i know with how busy her schedule is. I probably wouldn't be able to catch her on there, but i have just added her as a favorite in streamate.... so i hope i am lucky enough to be able to catch her on there one day.
