Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Big game tonight between the Hawks and Coyotes. Hopefully, Crawford gets on track and Sharp stays hot.

I don't hate Phoenix as much now that Torres is gone. Ekman-Larsson and Doan are both great players and Smith always well against Chicago. Should be a great match up.

Kadri just got a three game suspension.

I'm not sure which hit was worse but I would probably say the Granlund one. Wild needed Konopka or someone to put him through the boards but it was such a tight game I guess they felt they couldn't risk it. Don't think we see the Leafs again this year either.

Three games seems like a slap on the wrist. Players need to learn that going for the head against the boards or glass is verboten....period. If the trend doesn't abate, longer suspensions and bigger fines need to be imposed. Granlund was OK this time but next time he could suffer a career-ending injury....or worse. Hockey is a rough enough sport by its very nature so no need for dirty plays like these to be added to the equation.

Smith was the difference in the game 2 nights ago against the Blues. We outshot 'em 39-19 but lost in OT. Phoenix is a really good team that plays fundamentally-sound hockey and great defense that keeps them in games into the 3rd period. Highly underrated....Dave Tippett has them playing great. I'll be keeping an eye on the Hawks-Yotes while watcing what should be a great battle between the Blues and Avs at Scottrade. Lovin' me some hockey....

Damn....the Blues crushed the (former) conference-leading Avs tonight, 7-3. Looks like the guys wearing the note were a bit pumped up after dropping that game to PHX 2 nights ago. To put icing on the cake, Steen scored his league-leading 15th and 16th goals tonight as well. Oshie had 4 assists. Great effort all around.

When we play at our best, we can beat anyone. Historically, too often we don't and therein lies the problem. I can't bitch though. Our record is 12-2-3 through the first 17 games. Not bad to say the least. Nobody I'd rather have at the helm than Hitchcock. Next up....Carolina at Scottrade on Saturday night!

I was obviously watching the Bruins lightning game, and it was pretty clear it was broken the second he tried to get up. It's awful, because he's probably the best possible face for the league and an absolute beast in all three zones now. I love the guy, and I hope that when he's ready to play again that there's no lingering effects that pit a damper on the rest of his career.

On another note... Why is no one talking about Ovechkin? Everyone jumped at the chance to give him shit when his production dipped for a couple years, but now that he's back to his old form, no one seems to be giving him credit. Sure, his +/- is bad, but he dragged that team to the playoffs last year and he's on a great pace this year for goals and points.

Because I'm too busy talking about Steen. Let some Caps fan blow the horn for Ovechkin....if you can find one. ;)

We need more good posters in this thread....a scant few of us can't carry the torch for the whole league.

I agree with you about Stamkos.

Steen is on fire, and good for him. I like the blues and most of their players (Sobotka's still my boy), but I don't see him scoring 50 and leading the league. I'm just saying, if Ovechkin caught all that shit before, people should be eating humble pie in blogs and paper columns all over North America right now.

I hear you. I was really just being more of a smart-ass about the general lack of interest in this thread (not to mention the other major threads in this section of the forum) than being critical of your post so no offense intended.

So....if there is actually someone out there who reads this who happens to be a rabid Caps fan....Alex Ovechkin SUCKS as far as I am concerned and Steen will outscore him by at least 10 goals this year. How do you like them apples, eh?? ;)

And, yes, Sobotka might be the toughest pound-for-pound player in the league. He's a grinder who never quits. Dude is nails.

I didn't think you referring to me with that comment anyways, but yea, this thread needs to make a comeback.

And Sobotka hits like a truck and takes the lumps even though he always gives up pounds and inches. We loved him in Boston, but unfortunately there just wasn't a spot for him on our roster considering his play style. I think we got Soderberg for him though, and now that he's finally here, the trade's paying off.

I actually picked Ovechkin instead of Crosby in my box format hockey pool this year. I figured Ovie would ramp up for the 2014 Olympics in Russia with a strong NHL season. So far he trails Crosby by only 3 points.

Jagger's Blues look very good right now. You know they're a stacked team when they have Derek Roy playing on the 4th line.

No need to discuss my 2 teams which are near the bottom of the standings. :brick:

Anybody here have any comments on any of the available hockey packages? Center Ice? Game Center? Hockeystreams? Others?

I subscribe to Hockeystreams mainly because of the price and the fact that I can get AHL, OHL, and WHL games in addition to the NHL. I have had a few issues with their DVR Flash stream but the live Flash stream seems to work flawlessly. I love being able to watch on the go instead of being anchored to the tube in my living room like you are with Center Ice.

Anybody else?

And the free Gamecenter app is great. I can't remember how much the full package costs, but my friend had it last years and gave me his password, it was awesome.

They annihilated the Avs, sure did.

Despite giving up TWO shorthanded goal on the same power play (fucking ridiculous....you think Hitch might run some PK drills in practice this week??), my resilient Blues came back to score twice in the 3rd period to beat Carolina at Scottrade, 4-2. Oh....and I know he's just on a hot streak but Steen scored again....his 17th goal of the season that actually turned out to be the game winner before Oshie put the game away. Tough, gritty win against a tough, gritty opponent. As a Blues fan, I keep pinching myself....is this really who we are or just another tease after 48 years??? :dunno: Hey....it's still way early in the season but so far I love the results!

Wow. Blues outshot the Caps tonight on the road 47-20 and ended up losing 4-1. Maybe we were just fatigued from back-to-back games but I don't like this result. Halak, who has been solid all year, gave up 3 goals on the first 6 shots....2 of them to Ovechkin (I guess the dude wanted to make a statement regarding Steen?). Holtby was terrific as he stopped damn-near everything we could throw at him. Hitch replaced Halak with Elliott and he was solid the rest of the way. Hey....can't win 'em all. The Caps are a good team, we didn't play our best and they just flat-out beat us. Sabres at home on Tuesday so hopefully we bounce back.
