When it comes down to it, it will be Luongo playing for team Canada in the 2010 Olympics.

Of course he'll be playing; as the backup.

As long as Brodeur is playing hockey, he will always be Canada's first choice for a goalie.

mother of crap! we're now 4-16 in OT situations this year. looks like Tavares will be going to NYI, but i'd be more pleased with defenseman Victor Hedman.

No way...unless Luongo has a run of shit luck.

Speaking of the Olympics, Russia is going to be NUTS.

Nabakov...sick
Malkin...amazing
Ovechkin...best player in the league right now

Canada is always a top threat. We have some of the best players in the world.

I wonder what team USA will look like. The best US player I can think of is Patrick Kane, maybe?

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
The Canes are coming together. Erik Cole with Eric Staal has been a force. A lot of games at home remain. they will be a tough out.

Philly is gonna be a beast.

The US might not have a lot of superstars, but they have many good players, and I think in the Olympics they will be a strong team.

I think the Olympics will be between four teams. Canada, Finland, Sweden, and Russia. They are always the best. I'd give the nod to Sweden or Russia for best overall team, but Canada will be playing infront of a hometown crowd, and Finland can never be counted out.

I'm expecting a great perfomrnace by Germany and Switzerland, as well.

Here is hoping the final will be between Canada and either Russia or the United States! :nanner:

Canada vs. USA would be my first choice. Then Canada vs. Russia because we need to pay them back from last year's IIHF gold medal game. (4on3 overtime PP goal, wtf is that)

Sweden probably won't look as good as they used to. Alfie, Lidstrom are getting older (tho still amazing), Sundin's not as good as he used to be, and Foresberg is probably not going to play. But Zetterberg and Lunqvist are still going strong. Sweden definetly has a chance to win it all.

The one thing I don't think I'll like is that it is going to be 100% Canadian crowd. That just enver seems like the Olympics to me. If Canada is playing Germany, then I want to see just as many German flags waving as Canadian flags. Even if it is something like Latvia Vs. Norway, I want to see both countries with their supporters, not just Canadians who are going to go to watch hockey and clap politely when a team scores.

When I watch Team Canada play hockey, I always have a urge to see Canada lose. We need to get taken down a peg. When we lost to Russia, it was good. These Olympics, however, they better win. If they don't the entire country is just going to bitch.

cry all you feel like it, but dont appologize or say your sorry. the capitals are going to win. its unforgiving. i'm not making a first move quit looking at me. I dont care what you have to say. they got it handed to them. the way they suck there noses up in the air an fluttered the rink. it makes perfect since from jealous people with insecurities. but hocky is a tough sport and its all logical.

Washington are indeed peforming great this year... but you can't go far into playoffs without a solid keeper.

Gotta love the pre-post-season race. Gotta be one of the most exciting times for hockey since teams are fighting to get into the playoffs. East and West are looking good for races unlike from previous years when it was exciting to watch the West.

Dawn, go quietly cry in the corner. You've got Cherry rooting for your team now. I'm surprised you TBL fans get excited over wins and losses. I'd be surprised if the team wasn't ordered to lose so they could get the best chance of pick number 1 in the draft.

As for the Olypmics, I hate the shoot-out after only 20min of overtime. It should be like the NHL playoffs. Keep playing until a goal is scored. Not to mention, the pros are playing in games that are usually meant for amateurs. Hope the upcoming officiating isn't as bad as the gold medal game that Canada faced in the women's final.

you're talking about the 2004 Stanley Cup champions. we know they can do better. that's why we get excited about wins and losses when they're playing this way.

Next year they WILL do much better , they have a team that can make the playoffs.I really doubt that they would lose on purpose , with all the injury they have on defense and to the starting goaltender it's no surprise that they come up short in many games ( they have 1 NHL caliber defenceman left in Lukas Krajicek ).So next year with the roster intact they will have a team that can compete every night.

Even though there are a lot of good teams these days, Canada always has to be looked at as the favourite. Their goaltending is, and always will be, second to none. Same with our defence. If we have Scott Niedermayer (maybe), Dion Phaneuf, Eric Brewer, Jay Bouwmeester, Mike Green, and Chris Pronger on D, there's not going to be much chances for other teams to score and our powerplay will be unreal. Our forwards will be amazing, that's obvious. The biggest thing that sets us apart is that our fourth line is as good as our first. No other country, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Russia included, have that kind of depth. I'm not saying they can't beat us, I'm just saying that we're always looked at as the favourites.

As for the US, they are going to have one of their best teams ever. Their goaltending is looking better than ever, they've got Tim Thomas, Rick DiPietro, and Ryan Miller. That's pretty solid. And Zach Parise has established himself as one of the league's elite scorers this season.

I agree with Canada being one of the favorites... but Russia could acquire probably one of the most amazing teams ever assembled. You have Datsyuk, Zherdev, Antropov, Malkin, OV, Evgeni Nabokov ((nhl all star goaltender)), Nikolai Khabibulin((nhl decent goaltender)), Alexei Kovalev, Ilya Kovalchuk... I mean without going on, right there you have a sick line up. Not to mention all those hockey leagues in Russia with all those players we know nothing about. In the end Russia is going to kick the shit out of everyone.
