Can someone give me a team to root for in the playoffs since my sabres probably wont(and dont deserve to) make the playoffs?:helpme:

The teams Im leaning towards

Boston (doesnt feel right)
Vancouver (fan of Alex Burrows)
Philly (Still like Biron from when he was in Buffalo)

All I can say is San Jose Sharks !I'm going to follow my man Danny Boyle since my Lightning aren't going to be in the playoffs.

Hmmmm looking good for my Jackets

Hey, I'll be wrong from time to time, it looks to me like the Blue Jackets will probably make the playoffs. I didn't think Mason would be that good his rookie year. It usually takes a few seasons for a young goalie to get comfortable in the NHL, and let's face it, no Mason, no playoffs for the Blue Jackets. They're still a woeful offensive team. Not trying to take anything away from them by saying that, but like I said, if they didn't get such incredible goaltending from Mason they'd still be a bottom-dweller. You had better hold on to him. Good luck in the playoffs too, you're going to make it this year.

Sabres just lost in a shootout
I know :(

I'm still confident they'll make a playoff berth.

The NHL needs another Broad Street Bullies...
I think not....

cheers,
R. (who has followed the NHL since the late 1950s...)

The west is gonna be grueling this year in the playoffs. i think the east comes down to New Jersey and Philly. Pittsburgh is making noise and the Rangers are the Rangers. As a Bruins fan, they are heading south at the wrong time.

The Hurricanes play 8 of their last 11 at home, but of those 11, three are against NJ. If they get in, they will be a tough out. Raleigh isn't a traditional hockey bed, but the RBC gets loud. Erik Cole back on the line with Eric Staal has clicked. Don't be shocked if they ride a hot Cam Ward into the second round.

I think so. They're style of play is lost in this new game. If a team started to play like that again they would be a dominate force in the game. Plus, they'd be knocking Crosby on his ass 24/7. Just awesome.

The more I read about Brodeur and the Devils, the more I come to this conclusion: New Jersey might be the team to beat this year. Of course, with Brodeur in net, every year they are a contender, but this year they just seem to click on the ice. I could see the Devils going far, maybe even to the Cup.

Why Brodeur's record breaker even a big deal? The more wins than Roy just seems pointless to me. Its like giving Chris Chelios a recognition because he is like 100 years old and still playing.

That makes no sense. Brodeur has been consistently Vezina quality for his whole career and broke the biggest record in goaltending. And he's four shutouts away from breaking Terry Sawchuk's record for most career shutouts. Chelios is 47 and holds no important records of any kind and is nowhere near being the greatest player or defenseman of all-time. Brodeur is 36 and is arguably the greatest goaltender of all-time. Some may still believe Roy is the greatest, in which case they would most assuredly believe that Brodeur is a close second. Comparing what Chris Chelios has achieved to what Martin Brodeur has achieved is ludicrous. And by the way, Roy retired when he was 37, so Brodeur still accumulated more wins at a younger age. I don't get what you're trying to say here.

Gordie played some 30 secs as a 70 old in the IHL about a decade ago. The way the Wings play, Chelios could still be playing for them when he gets as old as Howe.

As for Brodeur-Roy arguement, Brodeur won the games faster than Roy. Not to mention Olypmic Gold. Even though he hasn't won the Con Smyth like Roy, he's there to do his job of goaltending and is closer to Sawchuk's SO record than Roy.

Everyones on Brodeurs dick lately. Yes he is good, but he's not even the best in the game right now. He faces 15 shots a game. When's the last time the Devil's went past the second round?

Although I DO admit he's a proven winner. He's got the wins and cups to back it up. It could be argued that he was the best all-time even though the New Jersey system has a lot to do with the wins.

When it comes down to it, it will be Luongo playing for team Canada in the 2010 Olympics.

it just keeps getting worse for Lightning defensemen. 2 games ago, our d-man Cory Murphy was in the way of a Lecavalier slapshot and it broke his foot
