for probably the first time in his career, ref Rob Schick got a standing ovation from the crowd at the Kings game. they were celebrating his career because today was his last game as a ref in the NHL. after 23 years and 1,321 games he's retiring. kinda cool to see the fans appreciate a ref

If they aren't "sending the message" than what are they doing out there? Figure 8s at center ice.

It's time for some WHAM! BAM! POOOW!

Artyukhin crushes people as much as possible. Ryan Malone does stuff when he's not crashing the net but our main enforcer David Koci has been placed in the game a defense lately since we're crippled on the blue line. we can't afford to have a defenseman in the box every 2 minutes.

What's up with all of the blowouts today?

CBJ is doin pretty good and might have a good chance at the cup this year.

lets be serious. columbus isn't making any noise in the playoffs. even with an 8-2 win under their belt, they couldnt lift detroits jockstrap.

there is only 4 real teams that have a chance at the cup.

new jersey - a great offense, sic defense and a healthy brodeur is always a threat.

boston - best two way team in the league. experience will hold them back though.

detroit - if their goaltending can hold their own, nobody can beat them in a 7 game series. but the chances of that are slim.

calgary - elite goalie. offense, defense, experience, coaching. they have it all.

san jose are choke artists.
washington isn't good enough.
chicago is too young.
columbus - see washington.
montreal - price is in net. enough said.
pittsburgh - could be a dark horse. i wouldnt want to play them
vancouver - cant score goals

anybody else really isnt worth mentioning.

Almost all good points here (the only thing I slightly disagree with is that San Jose is a WAY better team than they've ever been in the past, so this might be their time, finally). Props for being right about basically everything here, but could you PLEASE get rid of that picture on the side of all your messages. It's seriously disturbing.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Detroit needs to pick a goalie and stick with him. i would go with Conklin. The Bruins need to do the same with Thomas. i am a Bruins fan, but I am concerned the playoff style of referreeing will stymie the speed game they like to play, especially with the Kessel liine.

I lean toward Jersey, but then they throw a crap job like the game against the Islanders out there.

Philly is big, mean and have been getting decent goal play.

Calgary is tough. Always liked them.

Philly will go deep in the playoffs again. I wouldn't be surprised to see a New Jersey/Philly matchup somewhere in the playoffs.

Detroit will choke in the first or second round. Everyone said they were going to win the cup those few years when they got whupped by Calgary and Anaheim in the first round...

If Calgary plays Vancouver they will lose in the first round.

'Nuff said.

The main problem with the Red Wings is they are making too many mistakes on defense which is leading to easy goals and a ton of odd man chances. Osgood comes out to challenge the shot like he supposed to and the D aren't doing their job on the sides making sure there aren't easy tap ins. Niklas Kronwall and Brad Stuart need to get back to hitting people. In last years playoffs these two struck the fear of God in the opposition. If you had your head down there was a good chance one of those D were going to make you pay. Right now its like Ice Capades back there. The entire Wings team needs to be more physical in their own end. I'm not talking about running out of position to crank someone, but don't be afraid to lay someone out when they try to bring the puck to the front of the net.

The offense other than sometimes getting a bit too cute and trying to set up the perfect play is doing fine. Holmstrom being back in the lineup will sort most of that out.
