Lightning defeat Atlanta 4-1. sloppy defensive play with 20 seconds to go cost Smitty a shutout, but otherwise it was a great game. Eminger scored a goal, St. Louis two goals and Malone a goal. Vladamir Mihalik scored his 1st NHL point with an assist

World Junior finals tonight. Sweden Vs Canada.

Hedman vs Tavares. Or the fight for the 2009 first NHL pick!

Anyone else will watch the game?

It may be unpatriotic, but I want Sweden to win this. I can't stand another year hearing everyone in Canada brag about how we are the best. As much as I love hearing it, it actually does get old, mostly because they (The people on the radio station here, for example) don't talk about how great Canada is; they talk about how bad everyone else is.

The All Star Game is supposed to showcase the best, not the most popular. The Canadiens fans ruined it this year, even if it is only the starting lineup. The only players that deserve to be on the starting lineup in the east is Crosby, Malkin and maybe Price. And not to mention that any All Star starting lineup without Ovechkin is a joke.

Don't blame the Canadiens fans ENTIRELY in this case. The game is in Montreal and the fans wanted to see their hometown stars in the game. You can't blame them for voting more than anyone else. Not that it would've changed things, but the NHL screwed up badly by not putting the right guys on the ballot. I know it's hard to predict how well rookies and sophomores are going to play, but look at some of the guys who weren't on the ballot: Devin Setoguchi, David Krejci, Phil Kessel, Jeff Carter(hello, leads the league in goals and he's not on the ballot!?!?!?!). Not to mention Tim Thomas, who has arguably been the best goalie in the NHL thus far. I wrote in Thomas every time I voted and I wrote in Carter every time as well.

Here's what the lineups should've been: West: Forwards: Jarome Iginla, Patrick Kane, Ryan Getzlaf. Toews doesn't deserve it, but Getzlaf and Kane were fine choices. Iginla is tied for the lead in points in the West. Defence: Brian Campbell and Dan Boyle. Niedermayer is having a good season, but there are at least a half dozen Western D-men who are more deserving. Goalie: Evgeni Nabokov. Giguere is nowhere near deserving.

Other notable West D-men: Shea Weber, Sheldon Souray, Brian Rafalski, Nicklas Lidstrom, Rob Blake. Other notable forwards: Joe Thornton, Pavel Datsyuk, Patrick Marleau, Daniel Sedin, Rick Nash, Shane Doan, Devin Setoguchi, Marian Hossa, Mikko Koivu. Goalies: Mikka Kiprusoff, Steve Mason, Niklas Backstrom.

East: Fowards: Evgeni Malkin, Alex Ovechkin, Zach Parise. Kovalev isn't quite all-star calibre this year and Crosby is, and always has been, wildly overrated. D-men: Mark Streit, Andrei Markov. I love what Komisarek is and does, but he has missed many games. Goalie: Tim Thomas. Price is a close second.

Other notable East forwards: Sidney Crosby, Marc Savard, Nicklas Backstrom, Jeff Carter, Patrik Elias, Mike Richards, David Krejci, Phil Kessel, Simon Gagne. D-men: Mike Green, Dennis Wideman, Zdeno Chara. Goalies: Carey Price, Henrik Lundqvist, Ryan Miller, Scott Clemmensen, Manny Fernandez.

Tavares is NHL-ready for sure. He's my pick. He's been unbelievable in the tournament; he'll have a great rookie season, I bet.

Canada takes gold, Sweden silver, and Russia Bronze.

Here's hoping for a Canada-Russia final next year in Saskatoon. Make up for that terrible game I saw a year or so ago between them.

... i can't beleive professional athletes that can't train properly in the summer. He can fight, yes. But he can't play. And when he is playing, he isn't dropping gloves often.

1.5M$ a year for 3 freakin years? He isn't professional enough to deserve it. I mean, when you are hiding an injury, your contract shouldn't be protected. When you don't take care of your body in the summer, your contract shouldn't be protected.

A big, huge, tremendous deception for us in Montreal...

He is currently *officially* injured but rumors are that he is suspended, without contact with the rest of the team, with the mission to get in game shape...

And most people consider him the league champ. He's making Domi like money and not really earning it. As much as I hate to say it, sounds like Brashear is the league champ since Laraque hasn't done much in the past couple years.

Having an enforcer on the team helps team confidence but if he's not there and some team members try to fill the void, they get their asses beat.

Laffs new player.

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the hockey club has acquired forward Brad May from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional sixth round draft pick in 2010.

“Brad will provide character, toughness, and he is a proven winner,” said Burke. “We look forward to the veteran leadership that he will give our team.”

May, 37, was a member of the 2007 Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks. This season he has played in 20 games for Anaheim collecting five assists with 28 penalty minutes and has registered a plus five (+5 ) rating.

In 963 career NHL games with Buffalo, Vancouver, Phoenix, Colorado and Anaheim, May has recorded 285 points on 126 goals and 159 assists, along with 2,121 penalty minutes.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I'm pretty sure it's a reference to that rap Shaq laid down last summer.

And that's hopefully the last time I discuss anything NBA-related in this thread. :crash:

Ok I understand now.. Thanx IF I was less than excited having (Nothing But Assholes) reference's in our NHL thread as well!:hatsoff:

I actually googled the whole comment in that message and thats exactly what was shown.. shaq's rap that is,

I thought it might have been some underlying joke or referance to rutuu biting peters in their game last night? :dunno: I've read some weird shit in the freeones forum:D
