Jesus!

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Mike Smith is suffering from post-concussion syndrome but is expected to return to the ice within the next week. The original injury dates back several weeks, although Smith started to be concerned about symptoms after the team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 30.

“We were hopeful that Mike’s symptoms would clear sooner and they haven’t, so were taking a conservative approach with him making sure he is 100 percent before he returns to the ice,” Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton said. “Although Mike would prefer to be skating and playing right now the appropriate course of action is to err on the safe side.”

Smith is working with the team’s medical staff on a regular basis on the rest, recovery and rehabilitation process. Before participating in any game activities, Smith will return to the practice ice when the team’s medical staff is comfortable with his progress.

i bow to Mike Smith. he's one tough guy.

So it's one of the Flyers goons who injured him. He sure is tough to have continued playing with post-concussion symptoms. I'm glad we have another Mike to do the job while he's recuperating.

not sure it was a Flyer who did it, but i'm sure they didn't help.

so here's a question, how many times are the people in Toronto going to fuck TB in the ass? Stamkos put the puck in Lehtonen's glove which was behind the goal line. goal, right? not if you're the blind folks in Toronto it's not. once again, Toronto keeps TB off the scoreboard.

And the Jackets beat the Avs 3-0 without Mason. Goddamn!

And the Canucks toppled the Blues! Even better!

And now you see why everyone hates Toronto.

We got robbed again. I can't believe how many times this has happen lately.Next game is against the Leafs I hope the people in toronto won't disallow another goal just to help their home team. About last night's game , it's a damn shame that with 41 shots against 22 that the better team didn't win.I guess now that tampa should just roll over and try to suck enough to have a legitimate chance at getting at least Victor hedman.

i do. they'd have a better chance of getting the call right if they flipped a quarter in the air. it's like they don't even try to make the right call.

The NHL put the "war-room" aka the video review team in Toronto.

Unfortunately, I live in Thunder Bay, ON and get the Laffs by default.

Some good games going on tonite. Sens are coming back to their high-flying skating selves. But probably too late. At this point I kind of just want John Tavares in the next draft.

a nice 6-4 win for TB over Toronto. St.Louis had 1 goal and 3 assists all in the first period. our goalie Mike Mckenna got in on the action with an assist and in his first game in a Bolt sweater, Josef Melichar had an assist

it was a big win because we're about to start a rough 5 game stretch: Washington, Chicago, New Jersey, Carolina and Boston.

Good thing the offense played well last night because with a save % of 840 Mike Mckenna wasn't very good. Marty was incredible , what a goal he scored on the backhand. I hope it's true that the Lightning have no intention of trading him. There is that stupid rumor sending him to pitsburgh with steve eminger that makes absolutely no sense. Stammer scored a beautiful goal last night as well , you can really see that he's getting more and more confident lately , he WILL be a great player in the NHL.

they'd have to give us Malkin and Gonchar to make it fair.

just another damned Rumor. everybody wants our star players, but it ain't gonna happen. and we need Eminger desperately now. our defense is still crippled.

The amount of Lightning fans on here blows my mind.
Not only that - the amount of 'whining' they engage against the calls of the officials is stupendous.

Their team may be permitted to be "bad" at times - but by Jove, the MAJORITY is the fault of the officials - those good for nothing, cross eyed, can't call a cross-check from a 'love tap' no good losers who have no business officiating anyways!

Sheesh!

It's H-O-C-K-E-Y fellas... not some other 'sport'.
Where's your hockey spirit?

cheers,

with all due respect, you can't comment on some of the complaints unless you've seen the calls yourself. TB may not be great this year, but the officiating in more than a few games has been horrendous. it's probably happening in other games, but people don't say anything about it

and we never said the majority of the games were lost because of the officials, but at least a few in a row were.

My post had nothing to do with the status of the Bolts and where they find themselves this year.... but it DOES have to do with the second aspect of your argument (especially the "officiating in more than a few games has been horrendous.") part.

it's probably happening in other games, but people don't say anything about it
Guess what? The Bolts aren't the only team receiving the bad shake from the Refs. The Refs aren't computers. The element of 'human error' is part and parcel of every game.

It's what makes a 'sport' a 'sport'.

If you Bolts fans want to moan about something as regards asinine ruling - complain about the Dallas Stars wining the 1999 Stanley Cup against the Buffalo Sabres because "the league was going to change the rule anyway".

Just providing an example.

Until y'all have suffered something as ridiculous, you have NOTHING to bitch about.

Just sayin'

cheers,

PS: I've been following hockey longer than you've been on Earth. Again, just sayin' ...

we've had 6 disallowed goals in 7 games. 3 taken away by the war room in Toronto. we have plenty to bitch about

I just want to chime in a bit here. I'm not disagreeing with any complaints you might have, I'm just trying to put things in perspective for you.

No game is EVER lost by the officials. If your team didn't put themselves in a position to win the game then that's on them. No bad call is ever impossible to overcome. If it happens to be a call that ends the game then your team shouldn't have allowed themselves to get in that position. It's like boxing or MMA, you're asking for it if you leave it up to the scorecard.

I don't see that you do have much to "bitch about." Like the other guy said, if it had been a Stanley Cup clinching game then I'd understand, but your team is having a dreadful season and has very little chance of making the playoffs. If the games meant something then it would be more understandable to "have plenty to bitch about."

If you want to "bitch" about something, maybe you should look directly at your organization in general. They hired a horrible coach when there were plenty of other deserving candidates available (Ted Nolan, hello? Why doesn't he have a head coaching job in the NHL right now?), there are constant rumors about Lecavalier and St. Louis being traded and anyone who knows hockey knows that trading a player of the calibre of those two is never going to work out in your favor; and if they're just rumors then the organization should do a better job of squashing them. I know they've said they're not going to be traded, but it's not that convincing when almost every time there's a trade rumor on a particular player in any sport that player usually ends up getting traded.

P.S. I know you have complained about your organization a lot as well, I just felt like pointing out that they're the problem, not the referees; and I just wanted to "bitch about" the Lightning organization a bit as well because they've been morons this season.

bull. a puck goes off a ref (who never even tried to get out of the way), to an opposing player and they score and that's nothing to bitch about? it's a momentum killer when shit like that happens.

TB fans have had reason enough to complain about officiating lately. you can't say we haven't if you haven't seen the games.

the ownership has done all they can (even calling press conferences) to kill the rumors and they persist. our GM Brian Lawton has said over and over it's a "pipe dream" and its "B.S." to think we'd trade Lecavalier, Stamkos, etc... people will believe what they want to believe

Don't know if there is a big enough cry towel to give you. It could be argued that the refs gave game 7 to Tampa when they won the cup against Calgary.
