NHL '10/'11 Thread.

I remember reading this was because CCM came up with a new technology that allowed them to create jerseys with gradients on them. The NHL wanted every team to have a third jersey to make money. That's why the Kings got theirs if I remember. I don't think the Blues actually wore their jerseys, though. The day they were supposed to, the coach saw them and wouldn't let the team out on the ice wearing them.

These?:

I got Boston winning Game 7 in a classic, but to be honest, this one feels like a coin-flipper. The Bolts could easily win.

It should be an epic hockey game.

It's funny about the Iles "Fisherman" jerseys. There used to be an outlet (I think it was Canadian) where my dad and I would order "Center Ice" authentic CCM jersey a little over a decade ago, and those Fisherman jerseys were selling for complete dirt (I think they were $40-50 US). Now, however, you'd be hard pressed to grab one up on eBay, and because of it I really want one. I really want a Whalers and a Jets as well. All of the defunct ones would be pretty sweet.

At least I still have my authentic Nordiques Sakic hanging on my wall.

I actually have a Whalers jersey. You can buy them at United Cycle here in Edmonton. There's a whole bunch of them.

I'm thinking of putting Mark Howe on the jersey with his number 5. He only played there for three seasons, but I think he's one of the best players of all-time who is not in the Hall of Fame and I think it's simply because he's been overshadowed by his father, Gordie. He has tremendous numbers in the NHL and the WHA and played in the Olympics (took home a silver medal) and a Canada Cup for Team USA and played in the '74 Summit Series for Team Canada (scoring six points in seven games). All anyone ever seems to remember him for is that he played on a forward line with his brother, Marty, and his father, Gordie, both with the Houston Aeros of the WHA and the Hartford Whalers, but he was actually a defenceman for most of his career, and a great one. The rest of his not-so-modest accomplishments:

1973 Memorial Cup MVP
1974 WHA Second All-Star Team
1974 WHA Rookie of the Year
1979 WHA First All-Star Team
1981 NHL All-Star
1983 NHL All-Star
1983 NHL First All-Star Team
1986 NHL All-Star
1986 NHL First All-Star Team
1987 NHL First All-Star Team
1988 NHL All-Star

P.S. There are a bunch of Jets and Nordiques jerseys at United Cycle too.

You mentioned the Whalers, well I just got a tshirt for the redesign AHL team called the Connecticut Whale, I think they were called the Hartford Wolves or something like that.

I googled "United Cycle" and their site showed no results for those jerseys. Are they "store only"?

I do remember now though that the place we always ordered ours from was River City Sports (https://www.rivercitysports.com/US/index.cfm). We used to get their catalogue shipped to us all the time and the clearence always had pretty sweet Center Ice deals. They don't have nearly as many clearence authentics as they used to have.

What is that United place selling their jerseys for and are they authentic, semi- or replica?

My authentic Nords and 1996 Western Conference All Star Sakic jerseys. Both are CCM Center Ice (Fighting strap and all that). You can notice Joe signed my All Star. He also signe one of my authentic Avs jerseys (not pictured). He positively has probably the worst autograph in the history of autographs. I also have a black LA Gretzky CCM Center Ice signed by him. Quite possibly the nicest siggy on the planet.

As a life-long Canucks fan I gotta say that playing Boston is the ultimate final. Traditional American hockey market, great fans and tradition. Bring 'em on!

Go Bruins go!!!!!!!!

Looks like the Bruins are in the catbird seat right now. A little under 7 mins left.....BUT, the way this game has been so far, I wouldn't be surprised that 1-0 holds up (barring an empty netter).

Bruins? More like bitches.

Go Canucks.

What an amazing game. Not many penalties, excellent net minding, good defense on both sides...awesome.

Boston-Vancouver final? Good for Canadian AND American markets. Also excellent hockey.

Fuck, yeah. I look forward to watching the Canucks beat the shit out of Boston.
