Taylor Hall is reportedly out for the season with an injured ankle. Something tells me rodfarva isn't taking this news well.

now we have injuries piling up, Stamkos won't score, the power play is useless and the Capitals are getting better. we will not win the South East. i've been saying it for months

wonderful time for Tampa to go soft. we will not do anything in the playoffs playing like this

They are going to win against the habs tonight and everything will be better. I still think they will win the south east. They battled through adversity all year long , they had a lot of injuries and yet they managed to keep going strong. They just lost 2 one goal games against some great teams. It happens in a season , you can't win them all.

Never liked the Flyers, I hope they get knocked out of the playoffs by the Rangers or someone.

the Lightning sure have picked a wonderful time in the season to start sucking. scoring as a whole has disappeared, Stamkos is invisible, they might as well take 2 minutes off the clock on our Power Play because we sure as hell don't score on them.

goodbye South East Division lead and hello first round playoff exit.

How about the Devils? It's pretty weird that the best team in the league right now isn't even in the playoffs.

lol I love your optimism :) I agree that they suck right now but every team in the league has a bad stretch during a season. I know that it's not a very good time to do it but still , you have to have at least a little faith that they will turn it around.

The one and only.
If it's possible to quietly win your last eight games, the Blackhawks have done so. They've vaulted from ninth in the overcrowded Western conference to fourth in just a couple of weeks. Right now, they (and maybe NJ as well) have to be the hottest team in hockey. The Hawks are peaking at just the right time. Hopefully, this momentum will carry them into and through the playoffs as well.

The defending champs will be a tough out for anyone.

Tampa Nay officially sign undrafted C Tyler Johnson from Spokane of the WHL, 2nd leading scorer in the Western League

nice grab for us. he sounds like he'll be a helluvan NHL player in the future.

i realize the refs have a difficult job, but how can they be so terrible at it? Lecavalier's goal should not have been disallowed because St. Louis never touched the Caps' goalie.

and shockingly, the Capitals tie it up. so instead of a 2-1 game for Tampa, it's 1-1. thank you, refs, for deciding another game

Congrats NHL. Your officials gave Washington 2 points in extremely important game.

the most infuriating part of Tampa's now 4 game losing streak is the goal scorers. the Lightning goalies have, with oe exception, allowed 2 goals or less and we still lose.

where the fuck is Stamkos?

Stamkos doesn't shoot anymore , he always tries to find someone to pass it to. It looks like he's not going to score 50 goals , it also looks like there won't be any 50 goal scorers this season. And I have to say also that the NHL refs are te worst in all of sports , That Lecavalier goal was good , like you said Marty didn't even touch the goalie and He was cross checked into the goal. How many times do we see a player run willingly in the goalie and yet the goal is allowed. In this case it really wasn't ST.Louis' fault.

Chara is back to being a goon, it would seem. a couple questionable hits against Tampa and now he just seriously hurt Max Pacioretty. he went motionless and was wheeled off on a stretcher.

he checked him into the piece of glass that separates the 2 benches. i'm sure it wasn't entirely intentional, but you have to let up in a spot like that.

Patty delivers in the clutch! Good Lord, Rinne was standing on his head for at least half that game.

I can agree that MLB umpires and NFL referees are generally much better than NHL referees (especially MLB umpires, who are exceptionally accurate with their calls), but there's no comparison between NHL referees and NBA referees. NBA referees make about a dozen terrible calls per game. NHL referees make about one or two bad (not terrible) calls per game, and probably make one or two really terrible calls per week, and that's throughout the NHL, and often enough the referees don't make any bad calls in a game. The Oilers have been Mick McGeough'ed enough times for me to be jaded about it all, trust me, but in all honesty NHL refereeing is pretty good, but it's just one of those fast-paced sports that can be difficult to referee, so mistakes do happen.

P.S. And let's not even get started on the biggest joke in sports officiating... soccer refereeing.

no subsequent punishment for Chara's hit on Pacioretty.

Canadiens fans are positive it was a planned hit, that Chara meant to severely injure Max.

as a non-biased, impartial observer, i don't think it was. Chara is not Matt Cooke. he doesn't purposefully target players and set them up on dangerous hits.

yes, it was a bad hit, and yes, Chara could have let up. but Pacioretty would have beaten him to the puck and broken free. so, Chara did what he's supposed to do, he played the man to keep him from the puck.

the thing that hurts Chara the most here is his size. if that was Cal Clutterbuck who hit Pacioretty, the injury would not have been as severe. surely his neck would not have been broken.

i don't buy that Chara did it on purpose and i don't buy that he needs to be suspended for it. it was an accidentally bad hit that happened at the worst possible spot.

He didn't clip him, take his legs out or hit him out of nowhere. It was just the perfect storm for that hit to happen. Chara may have wanted to get him like that but it's a tough call from a distance.
