I'm not a hockey fan (or a sports fan at all for that matter) but wtf is up with the Bruins roster being 95% Canadian? Maybe I'm stupid, but shouldn't an American team consist of American players?! Hell, the Canucks have more Americans on their team than Boston does...something about that seems odd to me.

Just the way it is. Same reason my dad wanted the Cup to be won and brought home by a a Canadian team - it's your game.

Glad Thomas got the ring in addition to his silver medal from last year. Some day he can show his kids...:hatsoff:

Vancouver fans justify every bad thing everybody ever said about them.

Oh and Boston won the cup.

This is embarrassing for me as a human being, much less a Canuck fan. This is a Facebook riot, dudes just tryin to look cool and sh*t. Half the front line dudes are on their phones texting and shit. Class-less, yesireee. Vancouver sucks. That's why I'm at home in the surrounding 'burbs, having a normal human reaction to a big loss. I'm getting on with it...

What Ol Skool said. Anyone who thinks the rioters are a representation of true Canucks fans is a fucking retard. There were over 100,000 people in the streets watching the game. If all Canucks fans were rioters there would have been more than just a few cars destroyed.

Well, it has been nice, everyone. 30 years of cheering for losing teams came to a head last night. I'm taking at least 1 year off from watching any sports.

the hockey gods were watching that game 7 last night very closely and they allowed the correct team to win, boston, reason why?? because every boston player had playoff beards that looked like unkept beds ...where alot of the canuck players had either barely any beards or very well trimmed beards, shaven and edged off perfectly. the hockey gods frown upon that and stuck it to vancouver.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?

Hopefully that's not really gonna happen, we'd miss your insightful comments and posts. :D but if thats really what your gonna do, we'll leave the lights on for ya' for when you comeback. :glugglug:

I am gonna pose a question to the Vancouver fans, and then secondarily, canadian, and then the rest of the NHL fans can chime in.. What I would like to know, Were the Canucks fans in attendance of game 7 booing Buttman? the Bruins? or both? when he was presenting the post game hardware??? I couldn't necessarily tell who the were so avidly booing, any thoughts about this??? if they were booing Buttman I can understand and sympathize with them, (man I feel sorry for Gary Buttman) one of the most hated men in NHL Hockey.. If they were booing the Bruins that was pretty immature and classless IMO. the Bruins won it fair and square.

Another thought crossed my mind thinking about the aftermath of what the Canucks fans did, I am gonna say alcohol, Drugs and young people don't mix very well in large numbers, the British Columbia, Police and the Canadian State police (forgot there official title) should have banned all alcohol in that large zone where everybody gathered. only bad things can happen when things are not sealed as tightly and enforced properly as we witnessed last night.
:2 cents::eek:

Yeah, that got kinda ugly last night. At first i thought they were booing the the Bruins too, until Chara hoisted the cup, and the boos turned to cheers. Last night, as the sportscasters were covering the riots, one of them said that this Game 7 loss to Boston is to Vancouver fans what the Buckner play is to Boston fans. That stopped me mid-cheering, and made me feel a little guilty. I know all about that kind of pain. It's what keeps Boston fans humble, even in the midst of all this good fortune. Seven titles in nine years? I can only give thanks, not boast.

And another thing, between the Mavs celebrating their win and the Bruins getting crowned, since when did it become cool to celebrate on an opponents home court/field/ice?

Take that shit back to the locker room!

Maybe that's why the Bruins won and the Canucks didn't. I know I'm biased and I think Canada rules the hockey world, but it's true. The majority of the NHL is Canadian anyway, so you're gonna find that with any American team.

I know I'm tooting my own horn here, but my preseason prediction held true and the Boston Bruins won the Cup.

There was a negative to come out of either team winning: If Vancouver had won then they're obnoxious fans who talk so much smack without having ever won a Cup would've been insufferable after having actually won one; With Boston winning it puts my Edmonton Oilers officially in fifth place with five Cups and breaks the tie putting Boston officially in fourth place with six Cups.

Boston winning, by far the lesser of two evils. And, in fact, I wouldn't even say it was an evil. I don't dislike any of their players (the opposite is true of the Canucks), and I love Nathan Horton, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and especially Tim Thomas. So happy to see him hoist the Cup and win the Conn Smythe, I couldn't imagine a more deserving player and person. And the team is an original six and Bobby Orr, et cetera. Congratulations to them.

As for the rioting, it happened in '94 in Vancouver, it happened in Montreal last year, it happened in Edmonton in '06 (and I'm so ashamed of that). I know true Canucks fans are ashamed too. It was gonna happen and I knew it, it always happens. However, the rioters represent a small minority of the fans in Vancouver and in my opinion cannot call themselves true fans. They're morons. The ones who were there to watch hockey and have a good time did so (at least up until the loss was a foregone conclusion), some rioters went there to riot and that's all. They showed up with surgical masks to prepare for the tear gas. It was planned. Such POSs.

I am so excited for next season. The Oilers have some cap space and we need a stellar defenceman (not to mention some other pieces). I'm not too impressed with the free agent market for defencemen, but maybe we can make a trade. We have the number one overall pick again and I hope we take Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. I know Adam Larsson is a top-ranked defenceman, but I feel like defencemen who are picked number one overall don't pan out often enough.

Some big free agents out there this offseason:

Brad Richards
Simon Gagne
Teemu Selanne (may retire, who knows)
Ed Jovanovski
Nicklas Lidstrom
Andrei Markov
Eric Brewer
Tomas Kaberle
Kevin Bieksa
Tomas Vokoun
Ilya Bryzgalov (whose rights were traded to Philadelphia, so I'm thinking he'll sign there)
Dwayne Roloson

Can't wait.

Brad Richards - Tampa fans want him back but he'd more than likely be too expensive. i expect him to go to NYR, but Brad is interested in a return to Tampa...
Simon Gagne - i'd like him back but i don't see it happening.
Teemu Selanne (may retire, who knows)
Ed Jovanovski
Nicklas Lidstrom
Andrei Markov
Eric Brewer he is 2nd on Yzerman's re-sign list behind Stamkos
Tomas Kaberle
Kevin Bieksa
Tomas Vokoun
Ilya Bryzgalov (whose rights were traded to Philadelphia, so I'm thinking he'll sign there)
Dwayne Roloson - Yzerman is open and "would like" to bring him back

I knew Thomas was the shit, and Boston fucking picked him up. Give Boston's GM a helluva lot of credit for securing him and inevitably the title. Damn fine goaltender. It would be cool if Boston repeats next season with him in nets.

It would be great to see Brad Richards back with the bolts. I think if he really wants to come back to tampa , he's going to accept less money. Well I certainly hope so ...

and if anybody could make it happen, it's Yzerman. i still doubt it but it can't be ruled out...

on another note:

according to both Steve Yzerman and his agent, "It's not going to be easy" to get a deal done for Sean Bergenheim.

after what he did for us in the playoffs, he'll be getting a large pay raise from the $700,000 he made last season. i'd like for him to return, but we have bigger things to worry about

somebody's gonna get a good FA come July 1 though
