I wonder how long before one of the Florida teams packs it in. All I hear out of Tampa is how few people show up to support the home teams. Without a bunch of corporate headquarters, the money just isn't there to sell out the stadium every night.

Especially in the Sunshine state where there are many more options for the discretionary dollar.

Exactly, the only sport that flourishes down there is football.

Niemi is money tonight so far.

That's what I always wonder. Florida damn near won the cup ('96) and the fan base just isn't there. I guess retirement communities are not an appropriate demographic for them to focus.

The problem with these southern teams is that all this relocation talk nowadays is coming when they are in rebuilding stages. Of course the fans aren't going to be there when the team is playing bad, but just look at Tampa during their good years or Phoenix's playoffs. The support is there. In Florida's case, no one (including Canadians) would pay money to see a team that hasn't been in the playoffs for a decade play. In my opinion, trying to move the Coyotes right now is like pulling the plug on someone in a coma who is just starting to show improvement. The fans are there - FACT. No amount of bitching by Canadians can disprove that now.

Just more evidence of Gary Bettemans brilliance.

I'm hoping that Quebec City gets one of the Florida teams soon.

Toronto's getting close, and they still sell all their tickets...

Oh! Big hit by Big Buff. My kind of hockey :hatsoff:

I agree. I saw it happen with the Stars. That last year (after they were in the fucking finals) the fans were abysmal. It was like watching a slow death.

Yeah, that makes no sense. Apparently a lot of tickets are bought by companies or some shit like that. It's because the fans keep selling out the arena that the management isn't doing much to improve the team.

100% correct.

So, once again, if people weren't so fucking stupid, things would get fixed.

Hey, Toronto fans: if you ever want a winning team again, stop buying season tickets for a few years.

While nearly every other team in the league does their best to put a winning team on the ice, MLSE just puts their feet up and waits for the cash to come in. You'd think they would spend all that free time to make the Raptors better at least, but no. Lazy fuckers.

All I can say is that I cannot wait to get my Winnipeg Jets jersey this week, if what I am reading is true, they will have a team again.

:uohs: Hide your women & children. Vancouver's down 2-0.

All I've got to say is that the Great Chicago Fire is nothing compared to what I have planned if Vancouver loses.
