Blades of steel was a great game back in the day but NHL 08 looks to be the best to me . I can't wait !

yeah, last years was a little rough around the edges. it was still better than 2k7 imho. it was a great step forward in videogame hockey. apparently the already great controls, have been taken even further with modifiers and such. looks awesome.

Yes and they added all that was missing in 07 like more online modes , player faces , better create-a-player feature and better goalie and defense AI . Also they added a great new mode in wich you can play with other players on the same team on xbox live . It's gonna be really great . NHL 2k8 looks to be good too but NHL 08 is gonna be much better IMO .

I love the idea about the online "team play". it would be cool to get a couple guys together and play a few games. i think 2 of my buddies plan on picking up 08. hopefully the online "cheese" will be kept to a minimum, and be rock solid.

I think if the AI is as good as EA says , the online should be great . The most important part is the goalies . If they suck the whole game will suck too online .

I've been waiting YEARS for them to add fully functional AHL teams.
Too bad I'm still playing PS2 and likely won't get a PS3 for a few years yet.

i have it for the XB360.
i haven't bought a hockey game in years,not because the graphics suck or the gameplay sucks or the lack of franchise mode or whatever....i was FRUSTRATED to no end with making my own team and having Brodeur as my goalie and in my first game of the season he gives up 6 goals...2 from center ice!
that pissed me off with the hockey games.the good players were good the great players (mostly goalies) sucked. i understand the NHL wants more scoring but the video games don't need to follow that line also!
AS FOR THE GAME............
it is unbelieveable,the cut scenes are insane,the shooting or more to the point, the stick handling with the puck (right analog stick) are FUCKING WILD!
the stuff you can do with dekes and saucer passes and the skating is Dead on with the way the players turn and stop.
the 360 version looks HOT...the PS2 version looks like choppy graphics but i only looked at the back of the box and saw how bad the graphics looked.
the PS3 ...? i don't know if it's even out for that so i can't comment.
if you want hockey....if you love hockey...this is the game....but get it for the 360!

i've been looking for a hockey simulation *non-arcade* game for a while. I've had a few but the most recent was NHL 98 *still play it* for the original PS. I've rented others since then but I didn't care to buy none of 'em.

Definitely ! For me it's the best hockey game ever made and what's incredible is that it can get even better than that in the future .

this game is pissing me off!!!! i created my own team (and have a loaded roster) i shouldn't lose a game but i am 5-7-0-1 i have brodeur as my #1 goalie and he averages giving up 4-5 goals a game! i like the new scoring in the NHL but on a game? maybe i should just roll with it but my team is just not scoring.
my 1st line:
crosby-hossa-ovechkin
2nd
rolston-spezza-gaborik
3rd
zetterberg-malkin-havlat
those 3 lines should be about a goal a shift and i average like 1-2 goals a game while giving up 4-5 like i said.
my 4th isn't to shabby either

On what difficulty are you playing ? That could you be your problem . Goalies suck when you play on difficulty level lower than All-star . I always play my games on Superstar and the goalies are good .
